Ya but what is up with. Haden? What he do?

Personally, I thought there were a couple of overreactions. The first by USC and the 2nd by the media.

Sark was called for a fairly innocuous penalty right after USC had taken momentum and tied the game.

Sark was called for "sideline interference" because he wasn't in the white part of the sideline (or was, I forget which is which) either way, he wasn't where he was supposed to be. He apparently thought he was where he was supposed to be and flipped his shit. He ended up getting an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which REALLY pissed him off.

At that point, he apparently decided that if he tried to discuss it any further, he would end up with another unsportsmanlike penalty so he had someone from the compliance department summon Pat Haden to come down to the field to continue the discussion with the refs. That was USC's overreaction.

The media played it up that Haden came down to yell at the refs and made a thing out of him being on the playoff selection committee. That was the media's overreaction.

Yeah, it's pretty funny. End of the day, not a big deal and nothing will come of it outside of Haden probably receiving an e-mail from the PAC-12 saying: "Don't do that anymore".

While I don't see how what he did has anything to do with him being on the selection committee, the media playing it up like that points to why active AD's should not be on the committee.

Ya sounds like grasping straws. He can't weigh in or vote his own team anyways.

Never seen anything like that. Exactly what did Sark expect the AD to do? A childish move even in Pop Warner. We should hear more from the PAC 12 than "don't do that anymore."

Doubtful. There's no rule against an AD being on the sideline or against them yelling at a ref. The only rule broken was that the text came from the sideline to the press box, but even that has no penalty associated with it.

Btw, Barry Alvarez did the same and was much more animated than Haden was.

Go ahead and put Oregon State above UW when they too barely beat the same Hawaii team.

UW's offense took a giant leap forward after that Hawaii game last week to scoring 59 this week. Oline coming together and several running backs make big steps forward as well as solid QB play.

Before every damned duck fan goes crazy up here, go actually watch the highlights of the game. UW does need to make serious steps forward with their defense, but that Adams kid for Eastern is one of the best QB's I've seen walk into Husky stadium in a long time. I can see why that kid had so many awards last year including FCS player of the year and second team all american.

Seriously, I've seen Mariota, luck, and several quality QB's from USC and this kid is on another level above them. No joke. You gotta see the highlights of that game. Those end zone corner passes were just sick. Frozen ropes dead on the money. Sure, a couple of their TD's were blown coverage, or at least the DB's were not playing tight, but at least 3 of them were to guys draped in coverage and still perfect passes.

Eastern's defense is not good, but that offense would score on every Pac12 team it faced.

I'm happy we came out with a W, but it was seriously an honor to see Adams do his thing. He's only a junior so he has plenty of more highlights to make. At 6' I don't know if he will play on Sundays, but maybe Russel Wilson has helped pave the way for more kids like that. Who knows. Kid can play QB.

Ya musta "passed out" due to lack of oxygen after your club took everything EWU tossed at ya yesterday Whiz...

Beavers destroyed Hawaii and "played to lose" in the the 4th quart. When I turned the radio off it was 38-7. Beavers must have run the ball the entire 4th quart with little effect. End score blew, but Hawaii had to score 31 to tie. Didn't happen. Sorry.

BTW...

MANNION ALERT!!!

THREW FOR AN EVEN 300 YARDS LAST NIGHT, 650 YARDS TOTAL THIS YEAR IN 2 BALLGAMES. NEEDED 1850 YARDS AT THE START OF THE YEAR TO BECOME THE PACS "ALLTIME BEST PASSER".

He is 1/3 of the way there. At this pace Mannion will break the record in the 6th or 7th ballgame this year barring injury.

Congrats Sean...Enjoy the ride son!

35 yards of penalties within a 2 minute period by the sideline ref

Yeah, but the one that set it in motion was a 5 yarder for standing in the wrong spot. For some reason, that caused Sark to flip his shit and he ended up getting the unsportsmanlike penalty. Then there was the targeting call on Pullard which, unfortunately, was the right call.

thats what I'm looking at as deserving of the ejection..also with the late hit that was enough. probably don't remember it but few years ago USC at stanford andrew lucks final year. a big hit into a sliding to the ground receiver kept their drive going and were able to go on to win. frustrating i think its getting to a point once receiver has caught the ball you can't make any move to separate him from the ball with big hits... think we may be seeing the big hits moved out of football completely

He did that several times at UW as well. Those sideline penalties were lame. Had them at least a couple of times a year and I remember a game he had two.

Nice selective cherry picking to find something to dump on me about Wallace. :L The following was a response to someone saying UW would blow out Oregon State by 20+ again.
:L

They let you out of the dungeon and this is what you do with it? :tsk:

UW's defense isn't anywhere near what it was last year and Mannion is statistically one of the top QB's in their school history, as well as one of the Pac greats. Go ahead and put a bet on a blow out win if you choose, but leave me out of it. I won't take them lightly.
That sound like I'm dumping on Oregon State or taking them lightly?

Anyone who doesn't know Mannion is one of the greats of this conference doesn't know football.

As for dismissing the near comeback in Hawaii, you turned your radio off way too soon my friend. Hawaii had the ball with time left to score the go ahead and simply wasted their chance. That's not garbage time comeback.

After watching Hawaii for most of two games it's safe to say their offense can be dangerous at times. Hell of a RB they have for sure and both lines are much improved. They can be beat with solid QB play as their secondary is nothing special. UW's backup QB was like a deer in headlights and couldn't find the receivers that were open all over. Mannion did. And they still nearly blew it. Both clubs are happy to get off the island and escape the sirens call with wins.

Yeah, I don't really care about the sideline penalties, I think it's pretty stupid that the NCAA is apparently making it a point of emphasis. However, I don't see a reason to get so pissed over a 5 yard penalty.

Of course, considering your point. Maybe he felt the one's last year were bullshit too and finally lost it. Sometimes a coach will develop a bad history with a certain crew or official. So, I suppose that may play into it as well.

Possible. Don't remember the game, but twice there were sideline penalties and one was supposed to be on him and the other was on one or more players out of where they should be and of course he complained, but I don't think he blew up. Could have set the table for this event.

Wiz, how many games do you think this "much improved" Hawaii squad wins this year in the Mtn WAC?

Holy smokes! Ugly doesn't begin to describe the SC vs Stanford game.

Still watching in 3rd qrtr.

I won't be surprised if ND sweeps the PAC in its 3 games vs this conference. Best chance to beat ND as of today would be ASU.

To be honest, I'm not up on the rest of the MW so I don't know, but I don't see them as a 1 win team for sure.

Not sure if you saw it or not, but most of their team gave up their summer break and stayed at school for the entire off season to hit the weights and work on their plays. They know the talk of ending football at the school and have tried to rally to not be the last class to play it.

I'm not saying they would give every other team in the conference problems, but strange things happen in early season games and Hawaii just isn't as bad as they were last year.

That bad? Didn't see any of the SC/Furd game myself. Neither impressed huh?

Stanford not looking as dominate?
