I do think state will find success in their passing game. Hawaii's defense only held UW there because their backup QB was like a deer in headlights with Hawaii's endless blitzing and Mannion won't be rattled like that. Guys were open, but the green horn QB couldn't get the rock out of his hands.

I guess the only question then is how strong is their run defense? Because that kid Hawaii has is legit. Hell of a runner.

I actually only get 3 days a month off where I can so it doesn't happen often. and its not because I'm uptight its because medical exams typically go better when the technologist (me) is sober.

Seems like they'd be less fun though.

420 this is one spot I have to disagree with you on. I hate it when people say us or we to refer to the team, you are a fan not a player. I played 2 sports for Stanford, but the day I graduated I struck "Us and We" from my lexicon of Stanford sports related talk. There is no we where the fan is involved, but that is just my .02$.

I've always struggled with the "we" aspect myself. I finally settled on using "we" for USC, but not for any of the pro teams that I follow.

The way it's presented at USC is that it doesn't matter if you are a player, coach, admin, instructor, support staff, student, alumni or just a fan, you're a Trojan.

I think it's probably that way at most schools.

No team should ever worry about the line. Their job is always to win the game and only to win the game. Let bettor worry about their own bets.

That said, I don't think I would touch that game with that line. I'll lose my money on different games, thankyouverymuch.

How odd was it to see a Hawaii team running the ball? I'm so used to the Timmy Chang/Colt Brennen teams that passed like they were being coached by Mike Leach. It was kind of crazy watching that game.

June Jones and his run n shoot offense are long gone.

Hawaii was a better team than their 1-11 record stated last year. Something like 6 of those L games were decided by 7 points or less. Hawaii as a program is struggling due to lack of support from the schools corrupt admins and a downward spiral in performance since Jones left.

They worked hard this offseason and they'll get some Ws this year.

Just putting it out there I am taking Oregon to win but at 13 im picking Michigan State. I have been saying Oregon 7-10 points for a while now and im sticking to it so 13 is just a bit much for me.

Fans are what fuels the teams. Alabama is Alabama because fans and alumni demand it. It's who pays for tickets to the stadium, it's who pays for the locker rooms that bring in the best recruits, it's what pays for the training facilities to make them big and strong. It's what gives them more media attention which highlights the teams and helps bring in more recruits. It's why these teams get millions of dollars in media money.

Do you see directional state getting these huge money deals? Hell no. Why not? Because they got no fans. Why does the SEC get so much money on a TV deal and why does every cable provider in the country pick it up? Because so many fans for the teams.

Do you believe if Alabama suddenly had the fans of UC Davis it would be anywhere near a top program in the country? Not a chance.

No offense, but I find it to just be snobbish crap that people take offense to using "us" or "we". Yeah, I'll never take a snap at Alabama, and I'll never even play on the scout team. But the notion that I'm not part of the team and that I have no effect on my teams success is just simply false. Even on the team different people play different roles, but it all contributes.

TLDR: The players are what will make my team good this year. The fans are what makes the team good almost every year.

And that's the facts.

Try and try but you're wrong. Players and coaches are the team. Fans are fans, You give them revenue but they are the actual ones doing the work. I can see a student saying we while they are still at the the school but thats about it. Nothing is funnier than some beer belly Kmart edition SEC school t shirt wearing slob who probably has never been to a live game telling you "we beat you" . lol

I got called a crybaby for saying the exact same thing, but now when the same kind of crap gets turned around it's suddenly legit. Because that is all that changed this past week.

It's been so bad I rarely even take a discussion seriously anymore. Because doing so only justified people to throw more crap.

I came to accept that SportsHoopla is not a place for serious sports discussion, it's a place for trolling people and that has been celebrated. I'd love a good cleanup, but I think it's pretty sad it only comes when a certain part of the fan base has to deal with it, while in the other direction it's promoted.

USC quarterback Cody Kessler was named PAC-12 Offensive Player of the Week. 25-37 394 yards 4 passing td's and 1 rushing td.

I am still not buying the "poor 4d20 and his fellow Bammers" being fans that take more abuse than others.

The reason for blasting the dumb has zero to do with the Ducks. But is more about the knee jerk idiocy that I have seen. Including your team actually. And many others. I find it very funny that after game 1 people have determined what teams are made of and the season is settled already.

This is why I started calling you guys "USCdirectional". If you ever manage to get rid of your inferiority complex, maybe you can have the USC label back.

Because what you've pretty much laid out is - sure, my team lost, but I'm still a superior person/fan because I don't use "we" or "us" when talking about my favorite team. You need to view the other teams fans in the worst ways possible in order to feel better in yourself.

Do you tell people "Those astronauts went to the moon?" Or do you use we/us when talking about the country? I mean if you didn't physically do those things, and contribute to the program itself then.

Because I'm also all about some "we went to the moon". And we do this as a country, and we do tons of things I don't directly have a hand in, yet I have an indirect role and connection to.

I'm also all about how "we" do in the olympics.

You're a citizen of the United states . When theres a national program like the Olyimpics the space program you are part because you're american. Assuming you're not a graduate of Alabama or working in the football program you have no connection other than you proclaiming you're a fan. I'm a former Marine and as they say once a Marine always a Marine but when a unit does something I don't say we I say they. Because even though I'm a Marine I didnt do it.
