So do we think Alvarez starts in minors and call him up when there's inevitably an injury? Or we keep him at DH? Maybe only let him catch during double headers?
Dom Smith was blocked with the Mets. He may be a better fielder than Alonso, but not enough better to move him from 1st.
Oh well....all we can do now is wish him the best....as long it's not against us.Hate seeing former Mets go to division rivals:
Yep...and finally there's closure to that short chapter.Bummer but we're still good at 3B. If Giants doctors said no go and our doctors said no go it leads me to believe there's something of substance there:
The Mets also agreed to one-year deals with reliever Drew Smith, catcher Tomás Nido and utility infielder Luis Guillorme, as well as right-handed pitchers Elieser Hernandez and Jeff Brigham, the latter of whom New York acquired in a November trade with the Marlins. Per MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, Smith will earn $1.3 million in 2023, but the Mets did not disclose financial terms of the club’s contract settlements.
That leaves two-time All-Star second baseman Jeff McNeil -- the NL’s reigning batting champion -- as the Mets' lone unsigned arbitration-eligible player.
Oh well.I'd be okay with either, but more so Trey....
Could Mets be a match for this 2-time All-Star starter?
