So do we think Alvarez starts in minors and call him up when there's inevitably an injury? Or we keep him at DH? Maybe only let him catch during double headers?


Might make more sense to use him at DH unless Narvaez/Nido really struggle at the plate, but they're also two of the better framing catchers in MLB.

Agreed and that's part of what's working against Alvarez. Verlander and Max aren't going to be cool with a guy learning as he goes. They need someone they can trust.

Could let him DH and catch here and there. I don't think the Mets are going to rush him. I think Baty will see a lot more MLB reps than Alvarez does this year.
