Speaking of pitchers, apparently Mets sent 2 scouts for whatever that's worth:

I know he's coming off injury, he's old and he's another question mark for a staff full of question marks but if he's a fraction of himself he's exactly what we need. A veteran that knows how to win and has pitched in big spots.

This is just embarrassing. We're an ultra wealthy NY baseball team and the best we can do is a guy that's been out of baseball since 2017? And Sandy alluded to it being a 1 year trial run? At this point just let Sandy run it until you get your shit together.

From MLB.com...and The Athletic.

Nov. 11: Mets eyeing Stearns for future role (report)

The Mets are looking to hire a new general manager this offseason, but the team is hoping to land Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns for the same role in their organization after 2022, according to a report from The Athletic (subscription required).

New York reportedly has requested permission to interview Stearns multiple times but hasn't been permitted to do so by Brewers ownership. Per The Athletic's report, the Mets are operating under the belief that Stearns' contract will expire after the upcoming season and that he'll be interested in joining their organization after growing up a Mets fan in Manhattan.

Former Nats assistant GM Adam Cromie has emerged as the favorite to become the Mets' GM, a source told MLB.com's Jon Paul Morosi. However, it's possible that whichever candidate the Mets end up hiring this offseason will be working under a new president of baseball operations come 2023.

Read all about Báez here.

Nov. 12: Báez market deeper than expected

The Mets’ chances of reaching a quick resolution with Báez don’t appear as good as they once did. The team sat down with Báez’s camp this week, but sources told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand that the market for the free-agent infielder is much deeper than expected.

Previously, it seemed as though Báez could look to strike a deal with the Mets early in the offseason to avoid being part of a shortstop logjam with fellow free agents Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Trevor Story and Marcus Semien. But the 28-year-old may now be comfortable waiting, especially if he wants to find a team that will use him at short.

Báez has made it clear he prefers shortstop, saying in 2020 that the only scenario in which he’d be willing to play second base was if his good friend Francisco Lindor was his double-play partner. That scenario came to fruition when the Mets acquired Báez from the Cubs in July, but there are likely to be multiple teams interested in Báez as a shortstop now that he’s a free agent.

Nov. 15:
Billy Eppler a strong candidate for Mets (report)

The Mets are close to making a general manager hire, according to a report from SNY's Andy Martino.
According to Martino, former Angels general manager and Yankees executive Billy Eppler is a strong candidate for the role. Eppler was fired by the Angels at the end of the 2020 season.

Per Martino's report, there has been little traction between the Mets and former Nationals assistant general manager Adam Cromie, though he is not officially eliminated from the mix.

I think Brad Ausmus is an interesting candidate, and would be a good get for this team.
Extremely intelligent.
Former Gold Glove Catcher and All-Star.
Managerial Experience.
Has a good rapport with Eppler, and possibly Sandy A. & Steve Cohen too.
And he's a southern Connecticut guy. (New Haven)

Let's do this.

Sign him up.

Bummer but at the same time no clue what he is at this point. Was always inconsistent and injury prone. At least we get a pick out of this but it's another hole to fill. We have a very sketchy rotation:

I think in order to address our pitching and improve the offense we need to move guys. JD Davis, Dom Smith and McNeil should all be on the table

Sign a starting pitcher and trade for one. We'll also need to shed some salary if we're looking to bring in a Bryant or a Marte (or both).
