deGrom is bringing heat

Overall, he threw 11 pitches that registered at least 100 mph on the stadium scoreboard. He topped out at 101 on a fastball to Bregman in the first inning. In that inning, eight of deGrom’s 11 fastballs reached 100 mph.

That's great. Now it's time to improve.
He was a nice guy..but a bad in game manager.
And let's face it..he got the gig because of who he knows, not what he knows.
We need a competent Manager and a real GM.
I wonder what the A's are gonna do with Billy Beane & Bob Melvin now?
Seems they'd be a very good fit to hook up with Sandy Alderson once more.

If nothing else Billy Beane will bring structure which is the main thing we need in this organization. Managers, players will come and go, we need someone that can get a healthy infrastructure in place (scouting, minor league development etc). If he was able to pull that off in Oakland where they don't have money, they don't know if they're moving or not etc, he should be able to work magic with a NY budget.

Looks like Theo Epstein could also be on the short list for GM.
As far as manager goes....it's anyone's guess.

And just like that Theo is out. Conversation probably went something like I want Sandy's job and 5% ownership. Nope. Ok then.

Ughh

That's a bummer.

I'm sure that decision won't come back to hurt this team in more ways than one down the road.

Is Billy Beane in the on deck circle?
If so, would Bob Melvin be in the hole?

If the Yankees get rid of Cashman I could see that being Theo's landing spot.

So top 3 execs are a no go but I think they were all pipe dream options anyway (2 are currently employed and one wants to be an owner/out of day to day baseball ops). Media is spinning it as nobody wants to work here but I'm not buying that narrative just yet. Hopefully they wrap up this search in time for the off-season.

It also seems pretty plausible that Scott is back as GM.
