He'd be a good get for sure....and at a very high price unfortunately. (He'll be 30 in March)
I'm still wavering...but I definitely wouldn't mind having him.

Springer is the only guy I'm not questioning. We have needed a true center fielder and lead off hitter for years and he checks both boxes. The fact he brings a much needed right hand bat is a bonus.

Catcher, Realmuto is obviously the best but we could probably get decent production from McCann for way less.

Bauer scares me, definitely has phenomenal stuff but he's had 2 great years and then just decent every other year. Maybe he's turned a corner but I could also see his contract becoming an albatross.

Springer, catcher and go all out on bullpen/depth starting pitching. Save our trade chips for the trade deadline.

I would love it if we get Springer....but I really think he's leaning towards Boston.
It'd pretty much be a coup if he signed with us.

James McCann could definitely be a nice pickup for catcher, and as you said wouldn't cost nearly as much as JTR.

As far as another starter, maybe Cohen/Alderson should think about Jon Lester before he decides to re-sign with the Cubbies? We could use another lefty starter in the rotation, especially if Matz continues to struggle as he tends to do for extended periods. Whatever happens, Trevor Bauer would be icing on the cake if he became a Met.

Gonna be fun and interesting to see what goes down these next few weeks.

Billy Owens who was Billy Beane's right hand man would be my choice (based on the minimal research I've done).

Why is that total about $20M higher than those 12 player estimates?

The other 3 players (not listed) must take up the remainder??

That said...I hope they keep Nimmo, Smith, Lugo, Davis, Rosario & Castro.
Everyone else on that list can walk as far as I'm concerned.

Just my :2cents:

For $1.4 I think it's worth seeing if Gsellman can figure it out in the pen.

Yeah....I'm sure he'll win his arbitration....so I guess it's worth keeping him around.
My only concern is he still would rather be a starter, which, imho ain't gonna happen...at least not in Queens, unless we get absolutely ravaged by injuries where the options become extremely limited.

May to the Mets on a 2-year deal pending a physical. Terms not revealed.
Trevor May could be the closer for the Mets. He has that sort of stuff.

I like what I've read about him so far.
Surprised he wasn't on the radar for more teams...or was he? :noidea:

I would honestly prefer him out of the pen. We need a lefty and he just can't stay consistent/healthy as a starter.

I agree. I really do wish him well, and want him to succeed in whichever capacity.
But truthfully I'd be shocked if he's still on the team by the all-star break.
