Sweet..... I'll take it.

Here are the top 10 lineups in baseball

Mets are # 6.

1) Jeff McNeil, 3B
2) Pete Alonso, 1B
3) Michael Conforto, RF
4) J.D. Davis, LF
5) Robinson Canó, 2B
6) Yoenis Céspedes, DH
7) Brandon Nimmo, CF
8) Wilson Ramos, C
9) Amed Rosario, SS

After watching the 8 minute video on the Mets in that article, now I really can't wait for this shortened season to begin....

#LGM

Who leads off? Nimmo? Rosario? Mix it up with a Conforto or McNeil?

If Cano and Cespedes are even a fraction of what they were this lineup is scary.

Rosario really came on last year, he needs to keep it up. With the DH in play Dom Smith and JD Davis should get way more at bats.

If He's Lowrie provides anything it's icing on the cake.

No question about it.

Yesterday it was about the Mets #6 ranked lineup.
Today it's all about the rotation.....

Here are the 10 best rotations in baseball

Mets are "ranked" 8th...and I'm okay with that.

1) Jacob deGrom, RHP
2) Marcus Stroman, RHP
3) Rick Porcello, RHP
4) Steven Matz, LHP
5) Michael Wacha, RHP

If this rotation were just two-time-reigning NL Cy Young Award winner deGrom and then four empty Shake Shack bags, it might still merit a mention on this list. But, of course, the Mets have potential beyond deGrom, even with Noah Syndergaard on the shelf following Tommy John surgery.

Stroman saw his strikeout rate increase after the move to the Mets last summer, but he’s still ultimately a sinkerballer dependent on his defense. Bottom line is he’s capable of giving the Mets quality innings every fifth day. Porcello has a durable track record, and while he might never again be as good as he was in his AL Cy Young Award season in Boston in 2016, he’s a quality No. 3. Matz and offseason acquisition Wacha are the wild cards who will determine whether the Mets have a great rotation in 2020 or merely a good one.

Down on the farm.....

Top prospects vying for Opening Day rosters

NY METS

Contenders:
Walker Lockett, RHP (No. 25)
Lockett, 26, is the closest thing to a lock among Mets prospects, in part because the right-hander is out of options, though he’ll need to perform at a higher level than the 8.34 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and .347 BAA he posted last year in nine games (four starts) with the Mets.

Kevin Smith, LHP (No. 9)
A breakout prospect who reached Double-A as a starter in 2019, Smith, with his deceptive left-handed delivery and swing-and-miss breaking ball, is said to be in the mix for a spot in the Mets’ Opening Day bullpen.

David Peterson, LHP (No. 10)
After a strong Double-A campaign in 2019, Peterson reported to spring camp in better physical shape and saw his velocity tick up a bit as a result, with his ground-ball-inducing sinker touching 93-94 mph more often. His candidacy for a spot in the Opening Day rotation likely will depend on the health of the Mets’ other starters, though the club could also choose to deploy him in a bullpen role.

Long shots:
Andres Gimenez, SS (No. 3/MLB No. 84), Ali Sanchez, C (No. 26), Ryley Gilliam, RHP (No. 27)

Both Gimenez and Sanchez are Major League-ready defenders, and the former made significant gains as a hitter late last year in Double-A before claiming the Arizona Fall League batting title. Gilliam, a late addition to the Mets’ 60-man pool, is a potential bullpen depth piece who climbed three levels up to Triple-A in his first full season, all while averaging 13.0 K/9.

Others in player pool:
Thomas Szapucki, LHP (No. 7), Franklyn Kilome, RHP (No. 12), Jordan Humphreys, RHP (No. 14)

I keep seeing Lindor's name being floated around and while he's an upgrade, why use assets on a position that's not really a weakness?

Our needs remain the same as they have for 5 years. Catcher, CF and bullpen.

Not sure...but one thing is certain....the upcoming winter meetings are gonna be interesting to say the least.
Although I prefer the aggressive approach to the FA market, but too much tinkering can have a negative effect.
Also gotta find a way to keep Marcus Stroman on the team for at least 2021, but only if he's 100% healthy.
Hopefully the new ownership team will be in place in just a few weeks.

9. New York Mets

2020 record: 26-34
Tied for fourth in NL East
2021 title odds: 30-1

I feel like we need another National League team here, but let's be honest: There is a wide gap between the NL's top three teams and the block of mediocre teams in the middle. Let's roll the dice on the Mets with new owner Steve Cohen to the rescue (once he gets formally approved). Let's just say Mets fans are pumped about Cohen's WAW (wins above Wilpon). There have already been reports about all the money he'll sink into the franchise, not just on players but things like building out a more robust analytics staff. Aside from any splashy moves Cohen may make -- trading for Nolan Arenado or Francisco Lindor? Signing J.T. Realmuto or Trevor Bauer? -- there is a strong base of talent here. They ranked third in the majors in wOBA (behind the Braves and Dodgers) and fifth in the majors in pitcher strikeout rate. They should be better -- a familiar refrain for Mets fans, unfortunately.
