Holy shit, that’s some commitment to Karlsson. I’m excited for the upcoming season and I’ll worry about the cap implications later.

I mean they are already committed to this core with the existing contracts. Might as well go all in.

Big question now is can we fit in the rest of the pending free agents. I think Donskoi and Nyquist might be gone. Hopefully I Pavs wants a lesser term.

Its a huge deal but not a crazy one in my opinion.

As a Sharks fan I'm glad to see Karlsson signed long term. Don't know what that means for Pavelski's staying with the team.

That seems awful cheap for Trouba. I wonder if he is set on testing free agency? Or if there is a conditional pick that hasn’t been reported?

Cheap indeed and icymi the first rounder the jets are getting was the pick they traded to the rags for hayes at the deadline so ...

No woodier Chevy was always quiet on the trade front - but hey, cheer up Jets fans, at least he didn't give away Roslovic too.

My best guess is Trouba was asking for a shit ton and was only willing to go lower in certain markets, word got out and the Jets were stuck dealing with only one or two suitors.

I think the better question here is why didn't Winnipeg cash in last summer while he still had a cheap year left on his contract? If losing him as UFA was an absolute no-go that seemed like the best way to maximize the value (and could've led to them trying to get one of Hamilton/Hanifin before that trade happened. For this they might as well have taken him to arb and kept him for the season.

It's bad, I'm almost in favor of the Devils extending their rebuild by another 2 years. If Hall truly has one foot out the door, flip him for a good package. Use excess picks to climb back into the first, take on a bunch of bad deals and get the high end prospects/picks that come along with it.

I love Hall but Hughes and Nico are the franchise.

Unless it's a team who have been contending for a couple of seasons I think it's pretty dumb to not cash in on UFA's. Yeah it sucks to do it but if Hall gets hurt in November and has no value at the deadline then walks it hurts a lot more.

$1.7 isn't a lot but it is for a cap strapped team. Point is an RFA, next season Sergachev and Vasilevsky are RFAs. Tampa needs to make some moves.
