You just never know I've seen all kinds of crazy shit didn't Thornton get traded one time? ; ) if Nash decides to chg their structure they may love to switch Weber or more likely suter for a fwd like schenn especially if carle or draft picks were involved. I'm just not sure that the flyers would go that far right now. Most likely a minor deal with a team like the canes for one of their dmen that could eat some minutes. Take some pressure off of kimmo. We will see!

I dont think we need to trade away top prospects right now unless this team hits a slump. I'd rather have Homer go out and get a 4-5 defenseman. Kimmo is the #1. Carle/Coburn are suppose to be the 2-3. Mesz is your 4.

The available names that stand out to me come the trade deadline are Weber, Suter, Liles, Wideman, Beauchemin, Stuart, Kuba, Jackman, Gorges, Souray, Grossman, Aucoin, Lundin, Garrison and Corvo.

All of these players will be UFA's come next season and therefore may be on the block, yet many of them won't be dealt simply because they play for contenders or just may not fit into our plans due to being too expensive, too old or any other number of reasons.

After ruling out certain players for those reasons, I like Beauchemin tops and Gorges second as far as shutdown defensemen go. Obviously Weber and Suter are the two best available, but you're going to have to shell out an awful lot for either of them and they may or may not be available to begin with. If not, and the Ducks or Habs become sellers, I like Beauchemin and Gorges. These guys can both play huge minutes and are used to shutting down the top players of opposing teams.

I read an article that also recommended Grossman of the Stars, but they are tops in their division and I just find it hard to believe they'll be sellers if that holds true.

I heard the FLyers are not going to do anything in the short term. They want to see how the kids play. They could make a deadline deal. I dont want them selling the farm for a D-Man. Just try to get a stay at home 4-5 man who can eat some minutes.

You can bet if they wait for a high caliber dman in FA(weber), the Flyers will be bidding against everyone. Weber is probably not a chance. Suter in a trade makes more sense. Send draft picks and Shitty. Lol

I've said this numerous times, go get Cody Franson. He's a great 5/6 with potential to develop into a 2/3. He's very solid defensively, makes a good first pass & has a hard on net shot. I know everyone wants a true shutdöwn guy, but Pronger isn't that anymore himself. Trading for a legit stud probably fucks out of a franchise cornerstone and at least 1 first round pick, if u get a guy who can play anywhere from your 4-6 slot we should be fine. I'd also keep Bourdon up, I love what I see outta that kid has the potential to stick with this team over the rest of the rotating bottom pair(when the rest aren't injured).

I'm gonna post what I put in the other thread about Pronger as well since I feel it's important either way, but I can't blame the Flyers for not wanting to rush and pull off a trade for a replacement. Why? Because we continue to show resiliency and win!!! lol It's that simple!! Now it's going to be especially tough to pull out a victory today, but there will be no shame in a hard fought loss against Boston while minus G and with so many rookies dressed.

We're sort of starting to pull away in the division and 20 regular+overtime wins is far and away the best in the Nhl all while we've played fewer games than a lot of other teams. It's really quite amazing. This team just keeps rolling along.

I feel like the very best resolution for the Flyers in this particular case is if Chris Pronger essentially ends his career but does not retire and therefore can remain on LTIR for the remainder of his career with post concussion symptoms. Then, his $4.92 million salary basically no longer counts against our cap and we can start fresh again by trading for a younger, better top defenseman or signing one via free agency.

That is the very best way to make a positive out of this negative.

I know Homer said he was laying low right now, but if he actually thinks anybody believes that he's smoking crack.

Insider says something about the Canes and Flyers talking about a dman.

Id like Tim Gleason. At 2.75 he seems to be a nice pickup, doubt he'd cost too much.

I have read maybe 10 articles regarding Gleason.
