OMG, I can't believe you left out Aaron.

Didn't want to jump the gun & assume he'd get arrested.

I heard on the radio that 28 NFL players have been arrested since the Super Bowl. It's a good thing these guys are famous because they're easy to identify in a lineup.

29 arrests averages about to one per team. None of the other major sports have such a high arrest rate. I wonder what the underlying issue is with the NFL or is it merely an anomaly.

Well, football is the most violent sport around. It's gonna attract the most violent people. Plus when you give someone all kinds of money, fame & accolades for athletics from high school all the way into adulthood, they don't exactly tend to think normal rules apply to them.

I'd like to think My sole purpose would be to focus on Football if I were lucky enough to even have a chance of playing in the NFL. Workout, get better, and eat healthy. Some guys seem to recognize that. Drew Brees, Kaep, Patrick Willis, ect. WTF are these guys thinking?

Well, here's the thing. When you're a baby, you think the world revolves around you. You end up taking things out of people's hands & saying "mine" & screaming when you don't get your way. Eventually, most people have to hear "no" or get punished for this kind of behavour enough that they realize they're not the center of the universe & can't always just do whatever they want with impunity. That kind of growth usually solidifies (or doesn't happen in a lot of cases) in one's teenage years & early 20's. If a teenager is constantly told that he's the chosen one and gets whatever he wants (friends, money, girls, help with grades, etc) and spends all his time partying at no personal cost to himself then I don't think he has a ton of respect for the rules. He'll do whatever he feels like doing and say F' you (or '"F' Y'all" in Rolando McClain's case) to anyone who tries to stop him.

A Lion's fan on the NFL forum was talking about what a scum bag Barry Sanders' father was because he said he didn't think Barry deserved the Heisman & that Jim Brown was a better RB than Barry. I thought that was the craziest thing I ever heard because based on how Barry turned out (the most humble, respectful player I've ever seen), I have to say that Barry's dad had to have done something incredibly right. If only all NFL players could've turned out like him, I would have a lot more respect for football players.

So all the info below is poorly presented. Quick synopsis:
NFL offseason is 1.61 times longer than the NBA. There are 4.8 times as many players on NFL rosters in the offseason as the NBA. The NBA would need 3.5 arrests at the conclusion of its offseason to equal the NFL.
_____________________________________________________________
Logic and calculations
Well, a football team has 53 players on it (90 right now actually), split by 32 teams. Based off in-season roster numbers there are 1696 players in the NFL (2880 right now).

The NBA has 15 man rosters and 30 teams. That's 450 players. There are 3.8 times more players in the NFL in-season than the NBA. For the NBA to have the same percentage of player arrests as the NFL at 29, that number would be 7.5 arrests.

In the offseason NBA teams can carry 20 players for a total of 600. That's 4.8 times less players than the NFL in the offseason. For the NBA offseason arrests to equal NFL offseason arrests in terms of percentage, there would have to be 6 NBA players arrested.

Also, the NFL offseason is already nearly 5 months old (early Feb to late June). If we assume the NFL offseason ends when training camp begins the 4th week of July. Let's use the 20th to minimize the length of the offseason. The Super Bowl was Feb 3rd. There are 167 days in the NFL offseason from the end of the Super Bowl to the opening of training camp.

I can't find the start date for NBA training camps this year since the season just ended. Last season, the last game was June 21. Training camp for OKC began training camp Oct 2. That's 102 days.

So the NFL has 65 more days of training camp (1.61 times longer), and 4.8 times as many people in the league relative to the NBA. I would expect, looking solely at raw numbers, for the NFL to have more arrests than the NBA. Anyone think the NBA will have 6 arrests or less 143 days into their offseason (or at the end of their offseason, seeing as how they don't have 143 days).

Pro-rating the offseason, 102 days in NBA offseason/167 days in NFL offseason*6 NBA arrests=3.5 NBA arrests at the conclusion of their offseason to equal the NFL arrest rate when normalizing for roster size, number of teams and days in offseason.
