Flyers played well in Cali
Bit of bad luck but 1-1-1 is good

I see this team making a bit of a run in the next 10
If Im wrong time to start dealing

True, they played well this road trip, especially Wayne Simmonds.

Agreed - there are winnable games in the next week or so - a winning streak would be nice

I like the idea of converting him to dman. He could clear the puck from the Flyers' zone and help set up things from the point. Really all they have back there is Streit right now, he's good but not enough.

The Flyers have more 3rd pairing dmen making more money than any team in the league.

A Mac - Coburn $9.5
Schenn - MDZ $4.8
Schultz - CC $1.9

I am surprised teams are not kicking down the door to trade for a pair of dmen like we have. A Mac and Couburn can be your 3rd pair dmen for the low low cap hit of only $9.5 million!!!!!!!!

I expect 6 points out of the next 3 games. Then we can start feeling good again if we play like the 2 games.

Both LeCavalier and MacDonald made ESPN Insider's list of the top 10 overpaid players...

Andrew MacDonald, D, Philadelphia Flyers
Cap hit:
$5.0 million
Key stats: 15 games, one goal, five assists, 45.6 Corsi percentage, 3.41 even-strength on-ice goals against per 60 minutes
The Flyers went from sacrificing a draft pick in trade for MacDonald to signing him to a six-year, $30 million contract to making him a healthy scratch in a matter of about 50 games going back to last season. The move to sign the 28-year-old defenseman was surprising to begin with, seeing as MacDonald had consistently been a possession black hole while with the New York Islanders. The Isles had a 44.6 Corsi percentage with him on the ice and 52.6 Corsi when he was off the ice. With the Flyers, he has shown no improvement in that regard, and has landed in the press box. It's hard to get less bang for your buck than having a $5 million player who isn't good enough to play on an injury-riddled blue line.

i

Vincent Lecavalier, F, Philadelphia Flyers
Cap hit:
$4.5 million
Key stats: 16 games, two goals, four assists, minus-4, 1.44 even-strength on-ice goals for per 60 minutes
We'll stick with Philly for our next "honoree." The former Tampa Bay Lightning star left much to be desired last season, but was still skilled enough to make their power play dangerous. He added eight man-advantage goals and totaled 20 overall -- a disappointment, but still a positive addition. This season, he has been an anchor at 5-on-5, scoring just two points and posting an abysmal 39.0 Corsi percentage. Coach Craig Berube has elected to sit Lecavalier, which will help his team, but not the potential trade value of the fading star. The Flyers are still on the hook for this deal until 2018, making Lecavalier's one of the worst contracts in hockey.

I have been saying this about A Mac since the beginning of the year. He is a 3rd pairing guy getting paid top pair money. He should have gotten 2.5/yr for 4 years. Homer did not give a no trade clause but the contract is essentially a no trade contract.

homer was never a good judge of market value. he saw 'somewhat reliable d-man' and immediately thought he needed to give him a huge contract to hang on to him.

just like he saw 'starting NHL goalie, better give him a monster deal' when he signed bryz and the other starting goalie that signed after him (vokoun) got about 20% of what he got.

Interesting Stat of the Day:

Anaheim is 18-6-5 and leads the entire league in points, yet only has a goal differential of +6.
