The Rags got destroyed in every aspect of the game and still won. Kings better close them out and not give any life to that team.

I would hate to see the Rags get back in this thing just because the Kings looked tired and just a bit off on their timing. They really pounded Lundqvist in the the third but they started a bit late and just never got over the hump. Hopefully they'll close the Rags out in LA because I'd hate to have to listen to Rags fans ALL NEXT YEAR if they win the Cup.

As opposed to another year of debating whether we should or shouldn't have traded Carter, Richards and Williams? :gaah:

There is no debate we got a good deal and it will only continue to get better as the players get older and better.

If the Avs were to trade him, I would love the Flyers to get him - Brayden Schenn + for him - not only is ROR really good offensively(he'd slot perfectly on the second line) but he's great defensively and the second line really needs it

It's nice that I finally have some vcash to spend. The World Cup is helping me out. Btw, Las good call on Germany. They look very solid.

not from me. they already have Jay Rosehill. Thornton is better than Rosehill, but not enough to consider paying both of them.

My thought as well, and at his age he's just getting worse each year.

Nashville is interested in trading the 11th overall pick for a top six forward

I wonder if Lavy being there, he'd be interested in having Brayden Schenn

Flyers could have two picks in the top 17 and maybe they could get Robby Fabbri at 11 and someone like Dylan Larkin at 17

I had some more fun on capgeek

Traded Vinny to Buffalo, the 17th pick and Nicklas Grossmann for Dmitry Kulikov, Brayden Schenn for the 11th pick(Robby Fabbri), Braydon Coburn for David Perron and Martin Marincin, then signed Mikhail Grabovski for $4 million and Al Montoya for 800k

Here's the lineup:

Scott Hartnell - Claude Giroux - Jake Voracek
David Perron - Mikhail Grabovski - Wayne Simmonds
Jason Akeson - Sean Couturier - Matt Read
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare - Scott Laughton - Michael Raffl
Zac Rinaldo/Jay Rosehill

Mark Streit - Andrew MacDonald
Kimmo Timonen - Martin Marincin
Luke Schenn - Dmitry Kulikov
Oliver Lauridsen

Steve Mason
Al Montoya

Cap Space: $6,469,167

breaking up the moves for comments:

1. Vinny to Buffalo - good with it

2. 17th pick and Grossmann for Kulikov - don't love it, don't hate it. the flyers get the best player for next season in that deal, but I think you're giving up 2 roster players for 1 in a year or two by throwing in the 17th pick. I think that's a little too much value for Kulikov who is not a 'sure thing' to be a top 4 guy at this point in his career. I like the improvement to the blueline, but would miss having that pick. and I think you agree, which is why you...

3. Trade Schenn for the 11th pick - seems kind of like making a trade for the sake of making a trade to me. your basically trading a guy that has proven he can be at least a passable top 6 guy with the potential to be a difference maker. for a guy that has the potential to be a top 6 difference maker but you have no concrete proof on him.

4. Coburn for Perron and Marincin - Seems like a massive downgrade defensively to me. I like Perron, and I like your 2nd line, but as we've been over, I don't think Coburn should be moved. I think that leaves a huge hole on defense that Marincin (or anyone else) will be able to fill.

5. Sign Grabhovski - like it. I like him as a 2C, I think he fits that role extremely well.

6. Sign Montoya - like it.

2) How is Kulikov not a sure thing? He's easily a top four d-man, he could be a top two at some point - he's just like guys like Luke Schenn in that they haven't been sure things quite yet

3) Brayden Schenn could continue to develop but what happens if he doesn't develop? I'm not trying to be the paranoid type, but people need to get out of their thoughts that the Flyers should be going for the cup next season - to me, moving Brayden Schenn and drafting a guy like Robby Fabbri is a deal where yes you don't know what you're getting theoretically but if management is smart and does their research, they know what the player can do - every player that gets drafted isn't a sure thing, sometimes you have to take a risk to get better

Overall the moves I made were for the future - yes trading Brayden Schenn is a hot topic and some people don't like it(I've made it clear that there's nothing wrong with standing pat, but he's a tradeable chip and you can't call him an untouchable, you have to see what's out there) but this is about being creative for the future - the assets that you can have on defense are really good - getting Kulikov and Marincin are two guys that add to the stable of young d-men who can move the puck and give you mobility - it improves their mobility big time - yes you move Braydon Coburn but you also get a little cap space and you improve a second line that was not very good - sometimes you have to move on from certain players and start fresh - not that Braydon Coburn is a problem, but I think some people are afraid to move him because they don't know who/what might be able to replace him, but Marincin has a lot of potential and Kulikov's been in the league for five years now and is still young, he can blossom to be a top guy - imagine if Marincin and Kulikov turn out to be really good and then you add Ghost, Robert Hagg, Samuel Morin and Mark Alt into the fold - you have so many good, solid young d-men and teams will be knocking on the door for that and you will be in a position of strength - yes, Braydon Coburn is solid but he's also a little older now and people shouldn't be that afraid of moving him, you never know what you have in certain players but teams always take risks and you can't blame them for that

Eventually the Flyers will have to move on from the current d-men they have and start to make room for the younger guys - Braydon Coburn, like Brayden Schenn, is a tradeable chip that can get you a lot of value in return and while there's nothing wrong with keeping them, you can't be married to them

As I said before, I have no problem with this team standing pat, they did make the playoffs and they should again next season, if they get to the second round it is a success - this isn't about one and done when it comes to winning the Cup next season and if you don't you have to start over - that being said, it's about being creative and not putting all of your eggs in one basket

Also, if Robby Fabbri turns out to be a Claude Giroux-type player, you guys will have no problem making that deal

Any chance Buffalo would go for a Grossmann/Vinny trade for Myers?
