He already got dissed. He said it'd be cool to play for Lovie in Tampa.

33 only played in 8 games due to multiple injuries and currently recovering from a torn triceps. And he made 7 million last year.

DRC talked about retiring. Wants to spend more time with the kids. I kid. Id be all about Peanut. My dream is he gets dissed by Da Bears and wants to stick it to em and their huge awesome receivers.

Official Lions board NFL draft scouting reports (on-going)

I've found a group of guys I like for the second round of the draft. Right now, I really think Mike Evans is the one to really keep an eye on as he is getting a lot of high praise from league analyst. One site has him listed as 1b on the top reciever list, adding that he may end up being a huge play maker in the NFL.

My opinion is that the Lions should draft a WR in the first and attempt to follow up with a stong defensive draft throughout the later rounds. Here's the guys I like in round 2 for now:

Ryan Shazier- LB Ohio St.
Marcus Roberson- CB Florida *
Kyle Van Noy- BYU
Calvin Pryor- Louisville

Shazier is smallish but athletic and tough. Plus I lkke the comparison to Lavonte David. Marcus Roberson was Florida's best cover corner and was consistent in Floridas tough defense. 6'0 190lbs isn't bad. Van Noy may go late first or early second but Ive seen instances where he's available in round two. I think he's a great fit depending on what they want on defense. Calvin Pryor seems a lot like Delmas to me the way that he flies around hitting. He would be a steal in the second.

None of those are going to work. After they take their OT, they will need to get a WR in round two. They can't wait until round 7 you know.

Houston's contract is as such for the next 3 yrs.

2014 4.8 mil cap hit/5.2 mil dead money if you cut him after the new league yr.
2015 5.8 mil cap hit/2.6 mil dead money if you cut him after the new league yr.
2016 5.8 mil cap hit/1.3 mil dead money if you cut him after the new league yr.

So in essence we're stuck with him, simply from a smart business-money decision, until 2016

If we can find a willing trading partner we can be out from under his base salary, at least. We'd still have to eat the signing bonus, though.

Perhaps if we dangle him out there for some Gatorade or some shoelaces or something?

Sammy Watkins in the 2nd would be ideal.

Had Shwartz stayed on as HC, Houston was going to be cut. He lost in mentally and gave up on himself last year. Maybe the new coaches can revitalize him. If not, I don't expect him to stick around for long. They'll cut him and figure out the money part. They always do.

If we're gonna take a WR I like the kid from FSU Kevlin Benjamin. Have a sneaking suspicion he won't make it past the late 1st round though. He'd be perfect for a team like the Pats, Broncos or Seahawks.

I don't think they can afford to cut him. Even if they have to use him in the nickle, they have to keep for at least a year, probably two.

i think we have to go wr in round 1 then all defense

I think we could go LB in round 1 and WR in round 2 and then all defense except for a TE afterwards.

There is a ton of depth at WR in this draft. There are some LBs in round 1 and 2 but they thin out fast. I don't like any of the CBs I have seen so far. TEs are not too bad either. If one of the better ones drops to the 2nd round we might grab him first.

I agree the Lions need a CB but I from everything I read and see Dennard and Gilbert are not top 10 picks. The Lions could trade down and get one of 3-4 CBs that rate close.

The Lions have gone cheap on drafting CBs for years, Slay in the second was the highest since Terry Fair?. I would like to see the Lions use a 1st on a CB if it made sense. This draft has no Patrick Peterson. No Dre Kilpatrick. But it does have good depth from picks 18-35.

The top 9 is awfully interesting. I see Kiper having Lewan going in the top 9. I saw that last year but not this year. I guess if he has a good combine anything is possible. If Dennard or Gilbert have good workouts I could see them moving up but I wouldn't pass on Mack, Barr, or Watkins for Dennard/Gilbert. IMO one of those 3 should be available for Detroit.

Agree. There will be at least 3 QB's, 2OT's (not Lewan), and Clowney taken in the first nine. Hopefully 1 of the 3 you mentioned is still available with Barr being the most likely.

We have Calvin Johnson. Why would we have to go WR in round 1? The only WR I would take #10 overall is Watkins. If he is gone by #10 -- I would just wait til round 2 to grab someone for the #2 WR role. As Old Lion stated, as did I in a prior thread -- WR is the deepest position in the draft. If you can get an impact player on defense in round 1, either at CB or OLB, or trade down and accumulate extra picks -- I think the Lions should do so.

They have the most expensive receiving duo in the NFL. Didn't draft either one of em. A mobile, mid round, CHEAP QB. Late round productive Dbacks. A defensive head coach. A power back AND fullback. We aren't going to be working off Seattle's paradigm anytime soon.

I thought they drafted tate?

But you don't need a dominating one to win it. We are building a solid one. I'd just quit if I were you.

But dominating defenses will always top elite offenses. The broncos have one of the best offenses of all time and the seahawks embarrassed them. Ill take an elite defense over an elite offense any day myself. The lions offense is already pretty damn good. If they build their defense via the draft and add a player like ginn and a kicker Ill be happy.

They did. And they also threw 9 million guaranteed away on Matt Flynn the same year they drafted Wilson, who will make Stafford money beginning next year.
