Amaro is good but nowhere near as explosive as Ebron. In fact, Ebron is much more fluid and is a threat after the catch. Amaro is a huge target in a wide open scheme. Ebron had a few drops but he made those plays where only special players make. On more than several accounts, Ebron was out running other teams secondaries to the end-zone. Ebron has a much higher ceiling and is expected to go top 20 ay the least.

Rob Base,

I respect your opinion, but if Jones and White dont get injured this year along with Jackson, maybe they have a better year.

Im fine with taking a WR later but it better not be a OT or something like that in the first.

I would agree. No o-line or d-line in the first. Corner, WR, LB, and S should be the only realistic options unless a center emerging is amazing and I haven't heard about him.

I would rather see Mayhew drop down to #15-17 spot (receiving a 3rd or 3rd+4th) and select FS Calvin Pryor (forget Clinton-Dix) before taking an OT (Lewan, Matthews, Robinson) or a WR/TE (Lee, Evans, Ebron) at #10... My preference for the Draft would be.....

1st rd. FS C. Pryor-Louv...6'2 208 (in a trade down to 15-17) cut Delmas saves 6 mil
2nd rd. OLB K. Van Noy-BYU....6'3 244
3rd rd. LG Gabe Jackson-Miss-ST...6'3 334...powerful run blocker/above avg. pass-pro
3rd rd. Trade Pick/ DE C. Smith-Ark 6'1 266 (34 1/8" arms) or K. Martin-UNC 6'5 275
4th rd. WR D. Moncreif (Ole-Miss 6'3 220, 4.48 speed, a natural hand plucker, deceptive speed)
4th rd. comp (for Cherilous) TE Marcel Jensen 6'5 265 (Great Blocker/Hands 4.75 fresno st)
6th rd. WR Kevin Norwood 6' 2 205 (Bama) exceptional hands/route runner/sideline body control
7th rd. PK A. Fera (U-Tex) or Zach Hocker (Ark) made numerous career 50+ yd fg

Calvin Pryor sounds just like Delmas to me besides the fact that he has better hands. Pryor is not a wrap-up tackler but supports the run well. He flies around, looking for the big hits. I'll pass at 10

I think the Lions will keep Delmas and give him a reasonable contract. He wont get a lot because all he did was stay healthy. I'm not sure if its better to keep him or cut him. Cutting him means we have a gapping hole and keeping him probably means paying him more than what he's worth.

Thank you. Not just this year, but every year. Think about it. Ryan was taken 3rd overall. They've surrounded him w two stud 1st round WR's and the best TE ever Tony Gonzales and spent A LOT of picks doing it and for what? They lost 2-28 or whatever it was in the playoffs to the Giants when they were healthy. You can't just surround your 1st pick QB with 1st and 2nd pick WR's/TE's and RB's all the time. Eventually it's gonna catch up to you.

Thats true but we all know that there is many parts to it and there is no exact blueprint to guaranteed success. I just happen to think that the Lions need another 1st round talent at Wr to solve the problem they have. After CJ, there's nothing and its gojng to take a very talented guy to pull coverage away from CJ. Can they find a guy like that in later rounds? Maybe, but I would argue that the odds seem much better at the top. Maybe a Benjamin, Matthews, Lee or Roby could do it but I dont know.

Im watching for Watkins, Evans and Ebron.

Say teams believe Ebron is very close to J. Grahm and thinks his production level could be about the same

How are they comparing Ebron to Graham? Jimmy Graham is 6'7". At least 3 inches taller than Ebron. I say at least 3 inches shorter because UNC has him listed at 6'4", and most programs like to round up in the height and weight department (that is why I listed height, as well as his 40 time for the combine).

From what I've read about him -- he seems to be a slower version of Vernon Davis.

I also just saw -- Jimmy Graham ran a 4.53 40, so he is much shorter and slower than Graham. I'm not sure the comparison to Jimmy Graham is a good one, whoever was using it.

Someone might have already said this. You are usually pretty good for analysis but caldwell wasnt in indy last year and had nothing to do with richardson.

Yeah I screwed up on that one guys, my bad.

I watched 4-5 UNC regular season games this year (and their bowl game) and more than a dozen times Ebron had 2-5 yards on any DB, with clear open space to the end-zone, and he dropped easy, catchable balls. All receivers have drops but his were clear lack of concentration, worse than Pettidrops.... No way at #10 for me... Texas Tech's Jace Amaro is far above Ebron in blocking, route running and hands... Amaro is 6'5 260 lbs. and uses his body to block out Db's and Lb's whereas Ebron isn't even close to him at this point. Amaro was used as a slot, #1, #2 and is exceptional blocking down field but I wouldn't say, as someone did, "a devastating blocker".

Hell yeah, I would take Amaro OVER Ebron, period. Guy looks like a Gronk clone.

If Ebron ran a 4.48-5.53 than we will be all singing his praises in a month. Until then, he is just a shorter version of Fauria to me.

Some thoughts.
Fuck signing jason fox.
If a beast of an offensive tackle falls to ten you take him even if there isnt a "spot" for him. Great teams win in the trenches. If not, you pass.

Theres no tight end worth a top ten pick in my opinion. I also hope they dont draft a receiver at ten. I would be happy with a tackle or anyone on defense.

:agree: I really want a blue chip defensive player this year. Preferably in the secondary or SLB. Greg Robinson of Auburn has the highest upside in this year's draft outside of Clowney.

If Ebron runs a 5.53 -- I'd like to challenge him to a race for money.:laugh3:

Well ok, maybe the comparison isn't fair. Let's compare him to J. Thomas then for the hell of it. All I know, the guy is a terrific athlete. It comes down to what a team is looking for.
