Hey, I'm giving Nebraska plenty of credit.....

I just get sick and tired of people thinking that we should be winning titles year in and year out in this day and age simply because after 20 years Osborne started winning Conference titles every year.

We actually did struggle for quite some time.......you can go back and look at it. In Osborne's first 7 or so seasons he actually lost to a handful of unranked teams.

Dude you have completely lost it.

When Osborne took over Oklahoma was ranked 1973 - 3rd, 1974 - 1st, 1975 - 1st, 1976 - 5th, 1977 - 7th, 1978 - 3rd (beat them) , 1979 - 3rd, 1980 - 3rd.

Osborne was playing the best when he played Oklahoma. Not exactly like the 70-31 blow out by an unranked Wisconsin

Whether you are trolling or just so desperate to prop up your guy this is getting extremely ridiculous.

You should thank God Pelini did not have Switzer's Sooners to break his teeth on. I wish he did, we would not be having anymore of Bo's blowouts or blow ups if that were the case.

Nebraska is nothing folks. Just another Va Tech. Will be good every now and again......will be average the rest of the time.

Unless the equator moves itself Northward a d we start growing palm trees we're always gonna have trouble recruiting, and thus we will continue to win 9 games.....

9 wins. The Nebraska Tradition.

Also, didn't Nebraska lose like 3 times in the 70's to Iowa State?

We just weren't very good in Osborne's first 7-8 seasons......

Not Osborne's fault though.

Tom Osborne - Wikipedia
His teams never won fewer than nine games in a season, only finished worse than third in conference or division play once, finished in the top 15 of the final AP poll 24 years out of 25 (having finished 24th in 1990), and were ranked in every single weekly AP poll barring one week in 1977 and two in 1981

Yep they sucked. :L

I'm not trolling and I'm not trying to be funny. Like I said, when you play Wayne State all year long and then play Oklahoma at the end of the season followed by someone like Clemson in a bowl game, you're bound to go 9-2 if you're a place like Nebraska.

9-2 is good enough to be ranked regardless of who you played.

I don't see how I'm trolling by pointing out that we were mediocre and lost to unranked teams like Iowa State.

In fact, from 1973-1978 we dropped games to the following UNRANKED opponents in this order:

Missouri, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Missouri, LSU, Iowa State, Washington State, Iowa State, Missouri.

Hell we were averaging about 2 losses to unranked opponents each season there for a while.......

Then on top of that we were getting our asses kicked by the teams that were actually good too.

You're argument is just as lame as you are. I tried to help you out by suggesting you were trolling but nooooooo, you just got to stick with desperately propping up a mediocre coach at the expense of one of the nations greatest coaches of all time.

Nebraska has NEVER lost to LSU

Tied them once 6-6 in 1976

Nebraska NEVER lost to Oklahoma St under Osborne

Tied them once 17-17 in 1973

A tie is just as good as a loss as far as Tom Osborne and I are concerned.

I seem to remember a time when Thomas Osborne could have tied a game and won a National Title.

Osborne. "We were trying to win the game. I don't think you go for a tie in that case. You try to win the game. We wanted an undefeated season and a clear-cut national championship."

Nowhere have I ever seen him say "A tie is as good as a loss". :L
