been saying it for 3-4 years, goalies just aren't worth big contracts.. you're just as likely to get a hot season from a guy making 1.1 mil as you are a guy making 6 mil.. and there's just too many goalies in the league that are solid and have the potential to be a number 1 guy, to waste the cap space on a goalie

lol, that's writing negatively to write negatively.. no discussion of how the flyers have 4 players that are woefully under performing their skills

Hartnell - .8 ppg / .34
Giroux - 1.2 ppg / .67
Lecavalier - 1.3 ppg / .63
Voracek - .95 ppg / .44

*career high
*this season

which is a total of 2.17 ppg less than what those 4 players alone are capable of. say we take the conservative approach and say 2/4 of those guys are in on every goal added to make up the difference and that's an extra goal per game. bringing the flyers total to 3.07 goals per game (tied w/ anaheim for 5th in the league).. and the flyers record when scoring 3+ goals this year is.. 7-0-0.. so really, the flyers should 'progress' to their scoring capability and end the season undefeated

Also, how is a run that the Flyers have had, called a mirage? Especially when they've gotten consistently good goaltending - he might have a point if the Flyers were winning 6-5 or 5-4 every night but they're not giving up many goals, so that's a good sign that the scoring should get going at some point and if the goaltending keeps playing well, it's not a mirage

Even in his worst point per game season as a Flyer, Scotty netted 24 goals. He's on pace for about 17 now, but that includes no goals in his first nine games and one of his five being an empty netter. He picked up the pace in November and I think we'll continue to see him improve throughout the season. This includes Voracek and G as well. That top line has too much talent, skill, experience and chemistry to not explode at some point this season and once they do, they're going to be a force on a nightly basis.

G has already found ways to produce points. That's only going to spill over to his linemates, and sooner rather than later.

the top line is actually the one i'm most concerned with.. voracek and hartnell have looked mostly worthless to me this season.. i actually kinda want them to break that line up.. just dont touch the 'third' line

Agreed I don't like what Jake and Harts have done - I think they have to break them up - maybe something like this?

Simmer - G - Schenner
Harts - Vinny - Jake

Something like that?

To me, it doesn't matter. G is going to start producing with whichever linemates you give him. He's just that good.

G is good, but his linemates have to step their game up and if they can't you need to get guys that will - you can't win with one guy, you need to have all lines playing well, G needs that support system no matter how good he may be

G makes whoever he plays with better. At the end of the day, that top line is going to get theirs. When they do, this is going to be a very good team.

FWIW, McKenzie said on TSN that Kulikov is likely traded this week

Yeah I heard that a little bit earlier - I'll be curious to see who ends up getting him - I would love for the Flyers to get him but I doubt that they'll be willing to really give up anything significant of sorts from the big club

Mendes: Three questions about the Bishop trade

Wow good thing the Flyers didn't do that

sweet jumping jesus that would have been an awful deal. why was that even close to being on the table? thank god someone put a stop to that.. some people in the flyers organization are bat shit retarded i swear.. that proposal should've earned hysterical laughter and a 'click'. it terrifies me that it was close enough to be mentioned in an article afterwards. the rest of the article just goes to show you how 'cheap' good goaltending is these days, giving up value (players, picks, or cap space) for it is just terrible, uninformed management of your assets

Sean Couturier now has more points and a better plus/minus this season than that guy he emulates by the name of Patrice Bergeron.

I agree with Pierre McGuire that he will develop into a very similar type of player. Also, Matt Read is a product of Bemidji State...
