Despite the ranking, I'd argue they actually over-achieved in 2018 relative to their play on the field. To get as far as they did, they needed a miracle comeback over Japan and a Golden Glove tournament from Courtois.

And I definitely agree with accepting them as a quality mid team. They're not among the top tier. That's not to say they couldn't win one a la Greece in 2004, but this idea that they're the equal of France or Germany (despite their current downturn) is silly.

Every team has a wobble game en route - France got through the group stage with single-goal victories over Australia and Peru that year, Belgium tore through their group including beating England (although both teams had already qualified).

I mean, I'm not surprised to see this kind of tweet and while it is disappointing to see no points from three games, I don't agree with being outclassed in two of three games. They were the far better side versus Belgium and were a whisker away from tying Morocco.

I didn’t watch a minute today but going by the stats I’m not seeing them outclassed.

But this sentiment, like, there isn’t much to be proud of here. They had a good chance at a result in two of the games and couldn’t do it. It’s pretty disappointing.

I mean, Canada Soccer has to put out some kind of tweet, but there should be ad addendum to So proud. It is disappointing to not get a result for three games and you hate to single out a single guy in a team sport, but Borjan was the main reason Canada didn't get a point today, Atrocious giveaway for the first goal and you need to make a save on the second goal. As I pointed out in the game against Croatia, their first goal was certainly savable as well. He did not have a good tournament.

BTW Juve, Barca and Real are the only clubs still pushing for the "Super League". Barca had to sell their future media revenue to pay players this summer, Juve are headed to Serie C and Real...well, Real stays Real but i'll take misery at 2 of the 3.

Also, Chelsea's owner had to sell & Man U and Liverpool are both up for sale. Hate to see it.
