Why would the women’s team members get prize money for the men qualifying for the WC? Did the men’s team ever get money from the women’s prize pool for qualifying for the WWC?

If the 40% number the players want is to be believed I definitely understand it - that’s $173k per guy for 23 players. Lot of these guys don’t make much.

Anyway, my relatives still get pissed off talking about WC86 when Portugal’s players basically boycotted everything except the games and crashed out spectacularly in the groups despite having a pretty talented team (were semifinalists at Euro 84, Porto and Benfica combined to make 3 of the next 4 European Cup finals, etc.) because of a pay dispute. Resolve this now.

My brother in law is one of those people. He's traveled from here - up island - over on the ferry to Vancouver, only to be told there's no game. He's going to be passed and for good reason. I lean on the players side too, but this is a a bullshit maneuver.

Exactly - Better to play tonight and set a hard deadline say Tuesday noon to have something in place otherwise you decide not to play June 9th. This just pisses everybody off.
