Navy losing two fucking Jets. This is a pretty big deal, and I am certain there are a lot of asses getting chewed out.
The first loss was totally stupid. Hangar deck crew lost control of the cart pushing the aircraft onto the elevator and pushed it off.

The second lass was the aircraft missed the wire and instead of powering up, tried to brake and went off the angle. That sounds like a pilot error or an engine malfunction. 99% of wire misses result in thrusting and getting back into a pattern to attempt another landing. No way in hell brakes can stop a jet on a carrier deck.

No one has all of the facts.

I was in 'Nam for four tours. I got there when I was 18 years old. At 19 I was a crewman on an SH3A and trying to help guys my own age in the middle of a fire fight. I picked up bodies of guys younger than myself. Most fighter and bomber pilots are barely twenty four years old and yet are asked to fly multi-billion dollar machines. Our military doesn't want anyone over 40 driving any of them. Response time is critical and milli-seconds matter. I quit flying just before I turned twenty and took a position in Flight Deck Control accepting full responsibility for making sure that every aircraft had a full tank of gas when it left the ship. Never screwed up once. Never lost a bogie or a pilot.

I just hate people talking about stuff they know nothing about, like they're experts.
I worked closely with every pilot at Lemoore Naval Air Station.
I never saw a 20 YO flying an F35. Most were in their 30's.
I did see younger pilots flying F18's
I also saw pilots certify for air shows - thse were not kids either.......
I saw an F22 in the hangar but it wasn't there!

Yeah, we all know you were in Nam, thanks for your service but again what is the bigger issue. And they do know what they are talking about, they are talking about the Navy losing two fucking Jets. This is a pretty big deal, and I am certain there are a lot of asses getting chewed out. Just seems to me you're choosing the wrong thing to be concerned with.
Before I was hired at Lemoore NAS, nobody was allowed to take vacation. After I started, everyone took their vacations.
My 3rd day, somebody dumped an F18 in a field next to the airfield. The piloy ejected when his fuel guage said he was empty.
IMy boss said, you're in charge and left.
I got to see 1st hand what it looks like when somebody screws up in a $90 million jet!
When we pulled the wreckage from the "mishap" I saw about 400 gallons leak out......
All recovery was done at night and the wreckage was hidden from view in storage......
The pilot was discharged.....

AND How good the guys in charge at the top are professional at "Cover MY OWN ass" and "shit on someone else"
Navy senior officers vary tremendously. Pilot Commanders tend to be very loyal and trustworthy.
Non pilot commanders are as you describe. Definitely CYA!

I once had the opportunity to ask a group of senior officers in a meeting if "Washingon" knew this (very important) job was going to shit!? Priceless!

I once sat in a shipboard meeting with CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. He left me and the rest of the enlisted guys with a comment that I'll never forget. "I don't care who you are or what rank you hold. Do what you're commanded to do and do it to the best of your ability. Try doing it your own way and fail, don't look for forgiveness. Mercy is not in my dictionary for those who think that they are above the rest of us."

Current Vibe don't hate me, Shadur Sanders. Yep, you heard me! I get it, he has some maturing to do, we all know that. And I suspect he will struggle as an NFL QB. But wouldn't it be funny if after all the QBs the Browns have drafted in the last 25 years that he would be the one to make the franchise a SB contender? I love a good underdog story and yeah, we all despise the way he approached the draft, but it would be a big kick in the balls to all the owners that blackballed the kid if he ended up being great.

I think it was fear of noise. Call it Tim Tebow syndrome, or Lavar Ball syndrome - you pick.

But to your point, I'll root for him to shake the entitlement factor bred into him. That's what caused his behavior (imo) during the draft process. If he can do that he'll reach his potential, whether mediocre or a star.

I don't despise the kid for the way he interviewed. I am very tolerant of young mens atitude.
He's a kid. When I was his age, I was worse. I was the fastest thing oh the track and don't get in my way.
My coach, Ron, helped me to grow up.
When I turned pro, he shared with me that the guy I bought my 1st bike from, told him I'd never be able to ride.

Agreed, he has some growing up to do and sometime the older generation forgets what it's like to be young. It's funny to me how polar opposite he and Hunter are. Did you see the article about Hunter on the flight?

We all mature differently.

Some of us need guidance. Some of us need a lesson. Some of us need to overcome an obstacle. Some of us need to be placed in an impossible situation. How we deal with that which placed before us, determines how we will take the next steps forward.

If we are raised in an atmosphere of always being told that we are the best or better than all others, maturity is a steep slope to climb and one must fall often to understand what our problem is that holds us back. If we are raised to believe that we are less or not as good as all others, the slope is also steep before we realize what our problem is that drives us to aggravate others.

Sanders has a father who was the best of his time and has to deal with not trying to be better than him, having a father that will step in on his behalf and never knowing if it was him or his father that got him to where he is. If his father stays in Colorado, my guess is that he'll mature very quickly. If not, that slope will not only be steep, it will be covered with grease.

I don't despise him either. But, his actions are not what should be expected when dealing with a multi-billion $ franchise. Many of super talented kids have been in the same situation and didn't act like Shedeur has.

Personally I think he's over rated. He was part of the Prime media hype. His accuracy was mainly due to short passes and scrambles. He may make it as a decent QB in this league but I don't see him achieving the projections.

What I haven't heard anyone talking about is why was it a consistent knock on Jeanty playing against weaker teams yet it seems to get overlooked on Shedeur?

It's just could be instead of following pops, he should be preceeding him. Preceeding him in this way: pops is "Prime Time", but he's "Not Ready for....".

My daughter had her senior prom this past week end. What the high school does is what they call an "After Prom" Parents raise money for a year and buy a plethora of prizes. Kids that commit to after prom come in and spend the night there playing games, bounce houses. slides, poker, mechanical bull...etc etc etc...all of which somehow generates tickets for them to put in whichever prize basket they would like, and free food. At the end of the event names are picked out of each basket to determine who won that prize. 55" TV's, Mountain Bikes, kayaks, Blue tooth speakers, iPads, coolers, grills, electric tooth brushes, luggage... Prom was from 7:00 - 10:00 so after prom went from 11:00pm to 5:00am. My wife and I volunteered, after of course going to Nashville for the photo shoot...Then, of course, my daughter was scheduled to work at 7:00 am to noon. No way I was letting her drive on no sleep, so I did, with the idea that I would go home after dropping her off and grab a few hours then go back and pick her up. Didn't work quite that way.

So next weekend is her graduation. Why Prom is so close to graduation I don't know, beyond my paygrade. But my wife wants a floor in the sunroom prior to guests showing up. I started that on Saturday, got all the prep done for laminate flooring and got the first three rows in before leaving for other duties...chauffeuring for photo shoot, dinner with wife etc...and got back to it on Sunday. Sunday with no sleep.
Haa. Every time I clicked a piece in, the last one would unclick. If the last one didn't the one two prior would. I tried for about an hour and I got nothing done. Fuck. I haven't been back there since but tonight I will. wish me luck.

Oh, and now the front door handle has come loose and is stripped out of the door. A problem from the previous owner or original installation.
Now the wife wants a new door. Prior to guests showing up.

Fuck. I'm still tired.

I worked with a youth group of teenagers at church. The youth Pastor scheduled a "lock -in" Where the kids are up all night.
One day while the kids were talking about the prom, I talked with them about losing 3 young friends that I worked with. They all died on prom night. I asked what they did that cost them their life. All of them said with a knowing look of being bored, that they were drinking. They were shocked when I told them they were driving without enough sleep.

I despise these all-night affairs! If you feel led to, please pass this on. They don't need to stay up all night and drive to work.....

It is a fan favorite for our youth kids. I hate them with a passion. Thankfully the last few the kids have crashed around 3 a.m. as most of them have morning practices for sports so they want to get some sleep before having to run. I always make sure to schedule the next day off for myself so that I have some time to recover.

In NC it was traditional to keep the kids awake. Who thought of this? Satan?
