Yep only reason I do skin side down 4 min is my ole lady loves when the skin gets crispy1) marinate
2) cook skin-on
3) Don't over cook!!!!!! You barely cook salmon (or eat it raw)
I was describing my experience eating salmon, and not cooking, though maybe early on cooking. I'm not the foody you are so my cooking is simpler. I buy a frozen marinated wild salmon from Costco, then cook it a bit less than the directions call for. I like sushi so I have no fear of undercooked, and my result is always moist and tasty. Is there any chance you are cooking it to long first cook? I do one even layer of hot coals, 4 Min skin side down then flip 2 Min flesh side down. Before a package any leftovers I make sure they are completely cool place in tupperware with tight locking lid. When I reheat I do 1 min in microwave. Usually stays moist.
I'll be headed to NC sometime soon. 2 of my kids are there.Ahh okay thanks
No I was curious how the traffic flows on i77N to 81N and if those roads are all open from last years stormI'll be headed to NC sometime soon. 2 of my kids are there.
You need something done?
I like sushi also. Reading about expert sushi restaurants I found that the experts freeze sushi overnight before consumption.I was describing my experience eating salmon, and not cooking, though maybe early on cooking. Ummm Arrestment Landing is a real thing big guy CNN did not make it up.Nothing pisses me off more than forty people bitching about something that they've never seen or experienced. Like how a naval jet can be lost because of a problem landing on an aircraft carrier. All the expertise is from watching Top Gun. CNN decides to make up a new adjective that they call an "Arrestment Landing" issue. Not an 'Arresting Gear or Arresting Gear Wire or even a pilot deck landing problem. The Truman "lost" an F-15A.
Anybody ever land on an aircraft carrier?? I had two on the smallest deck in the fleet. U.S.S. Hancock CVA-19 Angle deck was 315 feet long and had four wires. Ship was 898 feet long, 215 feet wide. Wood deck. Commissioned in 1944 and displaced 44,000 tons. Truman is 1250 feet long and 325 feet wide and displaces 75,000 tons.
Asshole have never seen a carrier live, yet report on things they have zero concept about because they read something about a ship.
Oh yeah, I was shot off her twice on a steam catapult. Truman's deck is so big that she doesn't have catapults.
I watched many young pilots practice carrier landings at Lemoore Naval Air Site. It was entertaining!Nothing pisses me off more than forty people bitching about something that they've never seen or experienced. F-18. The F-15 is an Air Force Air Superiority Fighter. It lacks the robust landing gear and structural enhancements required for an arresting hook. It also does not have said arresting hook. The Truman "lost" an F-15A.
Catapults and Arresting Gear: Equipped with four steam-powered catapults and four arresting gear systems, the deck is engineered for the safe and efficient handling of a wide variety of aircraft.Truman's deck is so big that she doesn't have catapults.
I know what an arrested landing is. There is no such naval vernicular or even slang that calls any carrier landing an "Arrestment" anything.Ummm Arrestment Landing is a real thing big guy CNN did not make it up.
- Arrested landing is used when an aircraft lands on an aircraft carrier to decelerate rapidly. An arresting gear, or arrestor gear, is a mechanical system used to rapidly decelerate an aircraft as it lands.
Okay but is the bigger damn problem the Navy losing two Jets or a news agency unintentionally misusing a military term?I know what an arrested landing is. There is no such naval vernicular or even slang that calls any carrier landing an "Arrestment" anything.
I spent more than two years in Flight Deck Control (100,000+ launches and recoveries) and never once was anything called arrestment.
No one has all of the facts.Okay but is the bigger damn problem the Navy losing two Jets or a news agency unintentionally misusing a military term?
Yeah, we all know you were in Nam, thanks for your service but again what is the bigger issue. And they do know what they are talking about, they are talking about the Navy losing two fucking Jets. This is a pretty big deal, and I am certain there are a lot of asses getting chewed out. Just seems to me you're choosing the wrong thing to be concerned with.No one has all of the facts.
I was in 'Nam for four tours. I got there when I was 18 years old. At 19 I was a crewman on an SH3A and trying to help guys my own age in the middle of a fire fight. I picked up bodies of guys younger than myself. Most fighter and bomber pilots are barely twenty four years old and yet are asked to fly multi-billion dollar machines. Our military doesn't want anyone over 40 driving any of them. Response time is critical and milli-seconds matter. I quit flying just before I turned twenty and took a position in Flight Deck Control accepting full responsibility for making sure that every aircraft had a full tank of gas when it left the ship. Never screwed up once. Never lost a bogie or a pilot.
I just hate people talking about stuff they know nothing about, like they're experts.
Great PostInteresting.
Thank you sir.Great Post
