The point is DJ, that the goal is to move Westbrook and gain some new talent in return. Hield and Brogden may indeed fit better than Hayward, Oubre, and Plumlee. This is not so much about small versus large markets as it is about a dysfunctional FO and ownership who will probably eff this up and once again pick the wrong players like they did with the DeRozan/Caruso mess that netted the Lakers with Westbrook in the first place.

AS the icon correctly demonstrated many times, you always want to accumulate advantages and giving away future draft picks because you think they are overrated or you are going after short-term gain as in the case of AD, is not a sound practice to accumulate long-term advantages.

Not having draft capital is a causative factor that contributes to the demise of a given franchise and often leads to cap hell as consequences of not maximizing draft capital and going all-in for the present.
They will still have draft capital to trade on draft night. You can't trade back to back picks.....

Yea, it is pretty evident that you have always liked the Pacers trade for Westbrook. lol.
Because they need to surround AD and James with shooters.

Hield and Brogdon do that while GH does (but injury prone) and Oubre doesn't.....he's like RW basically. Maybe a little better.

G-Brogdon
G-Hield
G-Nunn
F-James
C-AD

That's a good starting lineup.

Reaves
Monk (if we can bring him back)
THT
McClung
Melo
Johnson
Gabriel

Add some vets to the bench.

They had that with the supposed James GM roster and look how that ended. Does anybody play defense in your wish list?

Nunn keeps thinking his knee is going to heal and he recently re-upped. It ain't and the doctors have told him so. Why they keep this guy around is beyond me.

That line-up is decent if AD stays healthy. Nunn aint going to play this year either. Reaves will play before Nunn because the Reaves plays consistent defense. and the Lakers will probably insert Gabriel over Brogden because Gabriel does play consistent defense and scores.

Nunn will play. And he will be like an offseason addition since he missed this entire past season. And he's a solid defender.

Gabriel plays a different position than Brogdon. Gabriel averaged 7.7ppg and Brogdon averages 15.5ppg

No dude. Nunn ain't going to play because he still can't push-off that left knee nor can he elevate and just because you state it and he wants it too, doesn't make it a reality. The knee bruise has not healed and the doctors have already stated that much. Now if you know something that doctors and the rest us don't know, than I guess you may be right.

Yea Q. That and they are waiting on the next HC who supposedly will have input on who comes to the Lakers in the processing of removing Westbrook. My point is, that, like the Rams, this business of giving away draft capital will eventually bite you in the ass because a bigger player, Father Time, is undefeated and has a way of putting a given team into instant rebuild mode.

But you got a ring, so it’s worth it.

Now try being the saints the last few years and getting nothing

The one thing about the nba is you can typically buy a top 40ish pick and land some cheaper rotation players…if you know what you’re doing

Yea I stated that because Gabriel is a forward and you have three guards on your roster. Granted Vogel played that roster most of last year because he had a ton of them and he was searching for a combo that would play defense. Now the Lakers have a forward who plays defense and that is why I mentioned him.

Hield is a SG/SF.

He's 6-7. Not like I have 3 short guards.

Brogdon is 6-5......Nunn is the shortest guard in that lineup.

Meh, thought he was taller. Tthere are guys that tall that play SF.

If they have a 7 ft wingspan and are an elite athlete maybe.

Hield is neither of those

He’s more of a monk type

Fair enough but he's a fit with AD and James. He can shoot plus he averaged 18ppg, 5rpg and 4.8apg with the Pacers and played some good defense.

He showed he can rebound and pass in addition to shooting (which is all he did in Sac).

And coming around @Retroram52.....Gabriel would be better off starting since you have 4 scorers in AD, James, Brog and Hield.

Nunn would be a good reserve off the bench.
