That contract is not going to age well, and will be untradeable unless it is coupled with some 1st round picks.AD got a 3 year extension worth 186 million.

He is in his prime and the Lakers always pay their players....plus the cap just goes up and up.That contract is not going to age well, and will be untradeable unless it is coupled with some 1st round picks.
But he’s so injury prone. He is in his prime and the Lakers always pay their players....plus the cap just goes up and up.
So WTF would you do?But he’s so injury prone.
It’s not like he’s Tim Duncan and reliable as hell.
He hasn’t played a full season his entire career.
His last 3 seasons with the Lakers he has played 36, 40 and 56 games.
This is not a guy you give max money to, and that’s why the contract will age badly.
He’s not going to miraculously start playing more games the older he gets.
No, but I wouldn’t give him a max contract either, and neither would any other team looking at his injury history. So WTF would you do?
He had 2 years left on his deal and the last year is a player option....if he opted out you would want him to walk away as an UFA at 31 fucking years old?
He is the highest paid till the next guy gets paid. No, but I wouldn’t give him a max contract either, and neither would any other team looking at his injury history.
He is now the highest paid player in the league.
Are you saying he deserves to be the highest paid player? 62M per year
He will make over 1M per regular season game based on his injury history. That’s not good business sense.
The Lakers are going to have create their own star because any of the available players who would fit that characterization to pair with AD are also getting LeBron-type old. They had to sign AD to that extension because Bron will not be around much longer and they will need to find another star to pair with AD.

Really, DJ. And what superstar are the Lakers going to sign to pair with AD to fill grandpa James' shoes when he finally leaves??
Would love Luka but haven't looked at the FA class in the next few summers....It all depends on when Lebron moves on. Odds are he will leave via trade (or S&T), which will bring back either a big salary player and/or pieces that can be flipped.
We all know the top target, should Dallas continue to fail to build around him (Luka). Realistic or not depends on timing and what the Lakers have to offer in trade at that time.
I don't know that FA really matters, unless considering cheaper options. To replace Lebron, it will take a trade most likely.Would love Luka but haven't looked at the FA class in the next few summers....
Well, tonight the games count. It will be interesting to see if the revamped Lakers are better than last year's version.
