There's no doubt LeBron would have been just fine playing in the 80's & 90's. He's a freak of nature.

Yeah, my question is whether the 80s and 90s would survive LeBron.

It did 7 years ago and it's true I'm not a Lebron fan ( but that doesn't mean I hate or even don't respect his talent )

Being an old head who has watched the NBA for well over 50 years I don't think Jordan was the greatest either.

what defines greatness is not how you changed the game but rather why the game changed because of you. ( Dick Fosbury is a classic example )

MJ wasn't that great either? Damn. Don't think many would agree with you but that's okay.

LeBron's the best all around player I've seen. Been a fan of the NBA since the early 80's.

Heard this stat today. LeBron's tied with MJ for most 35 point games (7) by someone who's 37. And is the only NBAer that has a triple-double at that age.

Oh what a fan boy :L

Would he be scared of Anthony Mason Rick Mahorn Charles Oakley and Karl Malone? Yes I think he would. Lebron doesn’t have a Kobe or MJ mentality. He’s not a killer

Would he get his? Sure he would

In that era he wouldn't be taking as many 3's. Which probably means he'd just work on a different part of offensive game. He would have been a top player back then.

Mason, Mahorn, Oakley, Malone. How often would he be guarded by any of them? LeBron's not a PF.

Lebron settles more for jumpers in the current league. Why in the hell would he go to hole and get hammered back then?

Are you not familiar with help defense? Back then, you go into the paint and you get clobbered by many different teams. Especially if you’ve already dropped 20+ or do on a consistent basis

Okay LeBron would suck if he played back then. He doesn't have the physical tools to play in that era. Is that better?

No one said he would suck. Goodness there are some major mood swings in here.

He has started settling for jumpers as he has gotten older and doesn't have quite the explosiveness anymore. Kobe and MJ both made the same concessions.

Holy shit you can't spot sarcasm. Should I use this- sarcasm2.gif from now on so you don't things so literally? And I know what this is really all about for you. MJ. Don't worry. He's the GOAT. Nobody is saying otherwise.

As they got older yes. But LeBron has always prefered pull up jump shots even though he did have the frame of the mailman and could’ve bulldozed many people. Like I said different mentality‘s and eras. Kobe shot from everywhere but he and MJ always try to take the ball to the basket. MJ would do it just to get to the foul line alone

MJ didn't even need to draw contact to get to the line. He's just that good.

If you ask most old heads who have been watching the NBA for over 50 years you may find that a lot of them have a different opinion and especially regarding Jordan as the greatest. Some of us would say, Kareem, some Wilt, some BIG O but they have a lot to draw from. Most ( percentage-wise ) younger fans will say Jordan because they haven't seen a lot of the older stars.
I'll admit Jordan is special and a talent maybe beyond compare and if I wasn't prejudiced, I would say I would consider him the best without question, but I can't

Not really. Lebron has never been a great shooter. His speed and athleticism combined with that size, has always been his greatest advantage. Settling for jumpers would remove much of that advantage.

He has always been a more willing passer than MJ or Kobe, so there were times where he would pass when MJ or Kobe would have driven to the hoop. In fact, you could argue But that's because his game has always favored Magic far more than MJ or Kobe.

Honestly,

The people who blast him for making a good basketball play and passing to open shooters instead of shooting over a triple team don’t understand basketball.

A bad shot is a bad shot. MJ and Kobe’s percentages in crunch time are not as good as people want to believe.

John Paxson or Kyle Korver for a wide open look is a better bet than a force by a superstar every single time.

Lets not forget Jordan was an outstanding defensive player to go with his talent. I don't think James or Bryant get close to that

LeBron was one of the best defenders in the league for 5-6 years.

And a very good one when he needed to be for most of the rest.

Similar deal with Kobe.
