I went in expecting stupid, raunchy humor with little/no redeeming value past that. I got exactly what I was looking for. Nothing ground breaking except maybe being the first Petophile movie ever. (OK, not really accurate, but the pun was too strong to let facts get in the way of using it). Not “family” fare, but good for the low-brow niche when you are looking for it.

Love it. Remember watching it with my kids when they were 8 and 6. Probably seen it 4 times since?

Pure propaganda. I don’t know how much the Chinese government kicked in to the production cost of this movie, but it was beyond blatant. Kinda hard to see the movie past that, it was so heavy handed.

Behind that part, there were clear influences from Terminator, A.I. and Golden Child and aesthetically from Star Wars (not really story-wise).

My Dinner With Andre (1981)

It’s two guys talking about a lot of different things for nearly 2 hours. It’s very smart and sometimes interesting. Sometimes they talk too fast.

The Equalizer 3. More of the same as the first 2. But for this presumably final installment, they basically dispensed with a plot or any development of other characters of interest. Bad guys do bad things to good people.. Denzel kills bad guys.. rinse repeat, this time in Sicily. I liked the first 2 ok, but this one was ridiculously thin.. only $5 tickets and the popcorn was free so I guess it was worth it.. 4/10.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1

I'm a giant fan of the past 3 before this. Ghost Protocol really got me hooked on the franchise, and then Rogue Nation added a villain as good as (imo) Philip Seymour Hoffman's in III. And then Fallout was pretty brilliant in every way as well.

I enjoyed Dead Reckoning, but boy, it felt like there was a lot of filler and extending of sequences that didn't really need extension. I assume it's because McQuarrie developed a story and script that would end up a 3 hour movie, so split it in 2 and needed to find a way to inflate the first one.

The good news is that it feels like it's setting up part 2 to be fantastic. I expect it to be the best of the franchise.

Once We Were Brothers.

The story of The Band narrated by Robbie Robertson.

Only one member still lives. Garth Hudson.

I have it on my watch list. Looking for a 4K version.

Bubba Ho-Tep

Seems like it's been a long time since I saw this, but it was only 2002.

Well worth the re-watch. Campbell is great and Ossie Davis as well as always.

I like it better than that but the theme of Americans as the bad guys seems a growing trend in many sci-fi films.

I am not a fan of the horror genre, so take my rating with a grain of salt if you do like the genre. I only watched it because it has exploded at the box office and I have heard good things. But really, it did next to nothing for me. Serious plot holes all over the place, and lots of missed opportunities to really tighten up the story.

Old Dads.

Bill Burr hits a lot of nails on the head in this effort.
I kinda look at Bill and feel sad these days.

Covid honestly cucked him.

Think this was the last of my interest in him tbh. He’s gonna have angry rants, and I’m just not going to care.
