The Revenant and The Hateful Eight yesterday. If you've seen the trailer for The Revenant there are no real surprises, but there several great scenes on the way to its inevitable conclusion. The bear attack was worth the price of admission. A nice performance by Leo. 7/10

The Hateful Eight is not great Tarantino... sort of a mix of Reservoir Dogs and Django, though not nearly as good as either. SLJ was great as usual. Kurt Russell was very good too. There were the usual QT extended dialogue riffing between characters. A lot of that worked. Some of it didn't. A lot of exploding body parts. It was ok. 6.5/10

Burn after reading - was tripping but found it very watchable 8/10

Revenant - previews kinda spoil some of the movie. Gets boring at times but good job by Leo. 7/10

The Big Short - hated it. 4/10

A buddy told me the new Star Wars is just Ep. 4 with different characters and that the H8teful Eight is a ripoff of the Usual Suspects, just westernized?

Anyone wanna confirm or deny this and save me some money?

Yes to the first, but still very good.

No to the second, and still VERY good.

Saw The U.S. vs John Lennon. Seems like a movie for the under 50 crowd who wasn't there which is good because I'm in that crowd. It just sort of ends, though, as if the movie doesn't want to give you critical analysis. Its just a snapshot of what the 60s rebellion was and why people didn't like the Vietnam war. Maybe I'm just used to movies like Ray or Walk the Line where you get a complex biography with actors but the documentary just seemed like an excuse to relive the music and why it was important. The crux of everything is that it actually is good music so I'll give it a B.

Dont watch it for the story. Watch it simply to have fun with the ridiculousness of the stunts and the grandiose-ness of it all.

It really is a good movie, given that preface.

I thought Mad Max was great. Strange and visually stunning at times.

I watched Ant Man last week. It was amusing enough for me.

lol,.....I remember the first 2/MM's,......the camera herking/jerking back-n-forth, fast-motion-filming,...was cool back in 1979/80's,.....I think it's up for an Oscar too...?,.....I started liking it when those dudes on bikes were chasing, getting blown-away,....i'll see it again minus the first half-hr..

Ridiculous 6 - I liked it, don't know why people hate on it.

I'll give you the former, but I'm getting closer and closer every day to never watching another super hero movie ever again.

And on the note of stunning visuals plus stunning audio, The Mission. Great fucking movie. With a waterfall as a star.

Next up, Papillon. Steve McQ running through the jungle trying to avoid head hunters with blow darts.....
