First game back and scores Detroit's first goal in 3 games. I don't even want to know how many pockets he picked. Prime example on the first goal of the game.

At least this year nobody can really make the argument that it's all about being on a great team. Don't really have to evaluate whether player A's team or player B's team would suffer worse if they went down with an injury, because we have a real life model to work with. Now that it's actually happened though, It's sad because hypocrites will say he doesn't deserve it because he was hurt. You got what you wanted, right? You got to see if the team would falter without him, no? Detroit just doesn't operate on the same level without Pavel in the lineup.

I agree, It hurt Crosby too. But Detroit has been waay worse off without Datsyuk than Pitt has been without Crosby.


I also don't think Pavel is the best player in the league. Just the most valuable.

Yeah, but right or wrong, the Hart is always about some combination of the two.

With Crosby out, you can make a pretty good argument for Stamkos on both of those fronts. Pretty sure he'll win it this year.

If Stamkos wins that Hart, I'll eat my hat. For one: Timmy Thomas, all day. After that, Martin St. Louis isn't any less impressive in Tampa Bay than Stamkos. Same thing will hold back the big three in Vancouver.
