Reggie Wayne - WR - Colts

A Monday MRI confirmed that Reggie Wayne sustained a torn ACL during Sunday night's win over the Broncos.

It's a crippling injury for the 5-2 Colts. Wayne, one of the most productive and durable receivers in NFL history, led them in catches (38), yards (503) and targets (58) through seven weeks. Barring a trade, they'll move forward with T.Y. Hilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey in two-wide sets and ask for bigger contributions out of talented second-year WR LaVon Brazill and TE Coby Fleener. Wayne will turn 35 next month and his $4 million base salary in 2014 is non-guaranteed. It's conceivable that the leader of the Colts has played his last NFL snap after 13 seasons.

Doug Martin - RB - Buccaneers

According to multiple reports, Doug Martin sustained a labrum tear in his left shoulder Sunday and is likely out for the season.

Martin's wildly disappointing second NFL campaign ends with a thud. In six games, he's rushed 127 times for 456 yards (3.59 YPC) with just one touchdown and added a meager 12 catches for 66 yards. Now he'll watch the rest of the season as sixth-round rookie Mike James operates as the feature back with third-round rookie Mike Glennon at quarterback. Related: Mike James

It is crazy how many torn ACL's there have been in sports the past 3 or so years. Before then I don't even remember ACL tears happening that much.

Big loss, he also had the most 1st downs (28) on the team. Next closest was Hilton with 18.

Jay Cutler - QB - Bears

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Monday the Bears "fear the worst" with Jay Cutler's groin injury.

Per Schefter, the team is worried Cutler will be lost "indefinitely." The Bears have a Week 8 bye, but there seems to be very little chance Cutler would be ready in Week 9. Consider Josh McCown Chicago's starting quarterback moving forward. Coach Marc Trestman's system is very QB-friendly, but it's an obvious downgrade in terms of arm talent and -- pending Monday's MRI results -- potentially devastating to a Bears team whose defense has collapsed.

Bucs coach Greg Schiano says it will be a stretch for RB Doug Martin to play this week. Says team does not believe injury is season ending

Seems like the amount of injuries is well above the norm this season.

It might be the case where when it comes to probability sometimes you're going to have season with an unusually high amount of injuries and some with an unusually low amount of injuries.

But it does make me wonder a little bit that with the looming HGH testing floating around is if the high number might have to do with guys getting off the illegal junk in fear of testing coming soon.

Ian Rapoport said the Rams will also work out Brady Quinn, who was released by the Jets today.

Most overrated QB of all time Michael Vick injured again. He doesn't know if he'll be able to go next week because of his hammy.

Matt Barkley may get the start next week. Bingo is going out to buy his pom poms as I'm posting this. :)
