Jesse Williams - DL - Seahawks

Seahawks placed rookie DT Jesse Williams on injured reserve, ending his season.

This appears to be a "stash" move, as Williams battled nagging knee injuries throughout camp after worry about those same problems killed his draft stock, spiraling a projected first-round prospect into round five. Williams may need another surgery. He'll return to battle for a roster spot in 2014.

Saints lose DE/OLB Will Smith for the season

Saints DE/OLB Will Smith is out for the season with a knee injury.

Attempting to remodel their defense under Rob Ryan, the Saints have now lost OLBs Smith and Victor Butler, and LE Kenyon Coleman to year-ending injuries. Smith's loss is probably the least devastating of those three, but is a reminder of how badly the team will struggle to generate pass rush no matter how well Ryan "schemes." They don't have depth or talent. Look for Junior Galette and Martez Wilson to open the season as Ryan's starting 3-4 outside 'backers.

Rookie Guard Jonathan Cooper first round pick for the Cardinals broken leg. Bad one that might be season ending.

Heard about this one on the radio somewhere in the desert on the only station I could get. I'm ashamed to admit my first thought wasn't, "Man, tough break; get well soon." It was, "I wonder what it would take to trade for him in the offseason."

Saints NT Brodrick Bunkley left the stadium in a walking boot and had to use crutches but no information was given.

Steelers lost K Shaun Suisham to a hamstring injury and he could be out a couple of weeks.

The Steelers also lost KR/RB La'Rod Stephens Howling for the year due to a torn ACL. As previously mentioned, they also lost Maurkice Pouncey and Larry Foote for the season today, too.

Nick Moody - LB - 49ers

49ers placed ILB Nick Moody (hand) on injured reserve with designation for return.

Moody hurt his right hand during Sunday's win over the Packers. The earliest the sixth-round rookie special teamer can return is Week 11.

Aaron Mellette - WR - Ravens

Ravens placed WR Aaron Mellette on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.

A 2013 seventh-round pick, Mellette was likely looking at being a weekly inactive even when healthy. He'll be stashed on I.R. and compete for a roster spot next season.
