The Big Ten and Thursday night games

Is this the first time a big ten has had a team has playing on Thursday night. I thought that they were "too traditional" to play on Thursday. Good to see! Now everyone does it. Thursday night games are a lot of fun, and much better when good teams are playing.

Wisconsin didn't try to schedule our game on a Thursday. Indeed, we scheduled the game against UNLV for a Saturday. At a later date, we found out that UNLV wanted out of the Saturday game. ESPN heard this and immediately offered up a chance to play TCU on Saturday, which we accepted but they declined. Now, we found ourself without an opponent for Saturday. Hearing this, ESPN jumped at the opportunity to have the UNLV-Wisconsin game on Thursday, and we weren't going to anger ESPN when we didn't have an opponent for Saturday.

Thursday Night games may be fun, but most B1G universities have season ticket holders from all over the midwest. For many, a trip to Madison on a Thursday night is just really impractical. I think Thursday Night games are good on occasion, but i'd like our conference to schedule as few of them as possible.

I think Indiana has played atleast one Thursday night game OOC. I remember because I was on my way to Blacksburg that night, driving down to Atlanta the next day. They played some shitty school, and for some reason I picked that game up fine but couldn't get a clear broadcast of the Boise State - Oregon game on the radio.

Edit: Upon looking it up, I believe this was Sept 3, 2009. Indiana hosted Eastern Kentucky. It may not have been on TV though.

I forgot that TCU turned down a rematch. I think it was logistical reasons.
