My B1G Power Rankings after Week 10

1. Michigan (8-1, 6-0) - LW 1 - The Wolverines (East #1) has faced East's #3, #4, #5, and West's #1 and #2 - and outscored all of those teams by a combined score 163-58. They still have to face East #2. They lost to undefeated Notre Dame by 7. Michigan has clearly earned their spot at #1 until they get beat.
2. Ohio State (8-1, 5-1) - LW 2 - These last four weeks, Ohio State has been far from expected. Game vs Minnesota was not close by any stretch, but the Buckeyes should have won by more than 17. Then there is Purdue, don't need to say any more about that. And beating Nebraska by 5 in the Horseshoe. However, they have just that one loss.
3. Michigan State (6-3, 3-2) - LW 3 - The Spartans have won 3 of their last 4 games and that one loss was a 2 TD loss to Michigan. A QB battle has begun between Lewerke and Lombardi. This week they kept the Terps out of the end zone. They are not getting much coverage, but they are playing good.
4. Northwestern (5-4, 5-1) - LW 5 - A 10-point loss to undefeated Fighting Irish does not hurt them, as they did play good. They have a 2-game lead against anybody in the West (have tie-breaker vs Purdue and Wisconsin). For a team to start off 1-4, they have really turned things round with wins against Michigan State and Wisconsin It is one of those situation where if you are going to lose, lose the games that don't matter. All of their wins really mattered.
5. Purdue (5-4, 4-2) - LW 7 - Blough destroyed Iowa's secondary and has looked like the B1G's best passer since taking over at QB. The smartest move Brohm made this season is switching QBs. They have won 6 of the 7 games Blough has started. They dominated Ohio State and beat Iowa, which eliminated Iowa from winning the West.
6. Wisconsin (6-3, 4-2) - LW 8 - The Badgers rise a few spots for rolling the worst team in conference. In their last four games, they lost by multiple touchdowns to Michigan and Northwestern and beat Illinois and Rutgers.
7. Penn State (6-3, 2-3) - LW 4 - At one point, everyone thought Penn State vs Michigan might be one of B1G's biggest games Who woulld have thought it would turn out to be one of the ugliest blowouts of the season.
8. Iowa (6-3, 3-3) - LW 6 - The Hawkeyes were in total control to win the West and they blew it in two weeks. If their defense continues to play the way they did against Purdue, they might struggle against Illinois and Nebraska.
9. Maryland (5-4, 3-3) - LW 9 - With all of the drama happening on campus, they are apparent on the gridiron. They have one of the top returners in the game, but they are 3-3 against B1G opponents.
10. Nebraska (2-7, 1-5) - LW 10 - I will give Nebraska props for hanging with Ohio State. Adrian Martinez is still one of the most eiting QBs and Nebraska's 0-6 start They might not have a great team but their offense i ==
11. Illinois (4-5, 2-4) - LW 13 - Illinois dominated Minnesota and ended their 3 game losing streak. Illinois will have a tough time reaching 6 wins. However, anything is possible with a QB like AJ Bush.
12. Minnesota (4-6, 1-5) - LW 11 - Last week, the Gophers ended a 5-game skid in their win against the Hoosiors. They have lost 5 of their last 6 games. This week, they lost by 24 points against Illinois.
13. Indiana (4-5, 1-5) - LW 12 - Even Gophers losing by 24 didn't help the Hoosiers on their week off. The Hoosiers have lost 5 of their last 6 games. They are on a 4 game losing streak.
14. Rutgers (1-7, 0-6) - LW - It didn't matter who Wisconsin had at QB. All they needed to do was give Taylor the ball. They didn't even need to block very good, Taylor would just bounce off.

Went to listen to it today and they had a replay radio call of the Wisconsin/Rutgers game. I immediately turned the channel.

Yeah, per the article, it seems like weekdays (not weekends) will feature original content. Here is a copy/paste of some schedule info from the article:

The new channel’s programming will feature exclusive new shows hosted by former Big Ten athletes, journalists and conference insiders, as well as simulcasts of BTN programming. The daily schedule will include Big Ten This Morning (weekdays, 7:00-10:00 am ET) and the afternoon drive show, Big Ten Today (weekdays, 3:00-6:00 pm ET).

And

Listeners will also hear weekly college coaches shows, press conferences, classic game broadcasts, coverage of future Big Ten Media Days, as well as curated, Big Ten-specific highlights.

Just curious why you would have Penn State as a gap above Michigan State seeing as they lost a home game to Michigan State?

If Nebraska played Maryland right now, who are you picking?

What? That 17 point win against Rutgers was enough to jump them up 2 spots?

Just curious why you would have Penn State as a gap above Michigan State seeing as they lost a home game to Michigan State?

I actually had Penn St. up on the same tier as Ohio St. before the Michigan game. I may end up being wrong about this, but I feel like that Michigan St. game was one of those "on any given Saturday" results and if they replayed it this week, Penn St. would win. The gap between those tiers is the narrowest of the gaps I have.

What? That 17 point win against Rutgers was enough to jump them up 2 spots?

Look at who Wisconsin jumped from my rankings last week. Penn St. got destroyed by Michigan and Iowa who lost to Purdue and I had those teams pretty close last week.

Well look at who they played. Wisconsin also only won by 14, not 17, my mistake. I would drop Wisconsin on that basis alone. Rutgers is absolutely horrible this year. They have to be one of the 5-10 worst teams in the entire FBS. I guess it's only fair if I put my own power rankings out.

Hmmmm — So Higdon is top 10 in the country in rushing yards (while missing a game), has the longest stretch of 100 yard games in CFB and he is the 4th best RB in the B1G?

And Shea Patterson has been named one of the 10 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and one of 16 semi-finalists for the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s top QB and he is 6th in the B1G.

Who knew the B1G had such explosive offenses?!?

My B1G Power Rankings after Week 11

1. Michigan (9-1, 7-0) - LW 1 - In the last 4 games, the Wolverines have outscored their opponents 143-34. Opponents in these four games are WIS, MSU, PSU, and Rutgers. They are the only B1G team to not allow 100 points in B1G play and have scored the most vs B1G opponents.
2. Ohio State (9-1, 6-1) - LW 2 - The Buckeyes looked strong against the Spartans. Even though Michigan has looked like the far superior team, Ohio State still looks better than anybody else in the B1G. They are the only B1G team to score 400 points this season.
3. Northwestern (6-4, 6-1) - LW 4 - The Wildcats clinched the B1G West in a unusual way. The same day they became bowl eligible in Week 11. They are 6-4 overall but one of 3 teams with under 3 B1G losses. They have only scored 6 more points this season than they have allowed. They have won 5 of their last 6 games, only losing to undefeated Notre Dame.
4. Michigan State (6-4, 3-3) - LW 3 - Only Michigan's defense has allowed less points vs B1G opponents than Sparty. However, only Rutgers have scored less points vs B1G opponents than Sparty. Their only losses are a night game in Arizona and the three above teams.
5. Penn State (7-3, 3-3) - LW 7 - The Nittany Lions have won 3 of their last 4 games since losing to Michigan State. Their only loss since has been to Michigan. They defeated all three of their cross-division opponents. With Rutg and Maryland remaining, PSU should finish regular season with 9 wins, possibly a 10-win season with bowl game.
6. Wisconsin (6-4, 4-3) - LW 6 - In B1G play, the Badgers have scored the same number of points than they have allowed. Ever since beating Iowa, Wisconsin beat Nebraska, Illinois, and Rutgers (all blowouts). They had lost to Michigan, Northwestern, and Penn State (all by double-digits). And they have gone W, then L, then W, then L...
7. Purdue (5-5, 4-3) - LW 5 - The Boilermakers have been the most-talked about team in the wild B1G West since rolling through Ohio State and beating Iowa and falling to Michigan State. Who would have guessed they would only score 10 points against Minnesota. Purdue was among the highest scoring B1G teams vs conference opponents. Minnesota has allowed more points vs B1G opponents than any B1G team.
8. Iowa (6-4, 3-4) - LW 8 - The Hawkeyes have become B1G's ultimate choke artists. In 3 of their 4 losses, they had a late 4th quarter lead and lack of discipline (and opponents taking advantage of it) cost them the game. They have lost 3-straight by a combined 10 points. Hawks D is still strong, 2nd in PA for season and 3rd in PA vs B1G.
9. Nebraska (3-7, 2-5) - LW 10 - A month ago, we were not sure if Nebraska could beat any B1G outside Rutgers. Now, they have won 3 of their last 4 games. Their last 2 losses were a 7-point loss to Ohio State and a 3-point loss to Northwestern (which they choked). They have allowed the 2nd most points vs B1G opponents, they have scored the 3rd most vs B1G opponents (most in the B1G West).
10. Minnesota (5-6, 2-5) - LW 12 - Minnesota's win against Purdue was very impressive, but how much did the snow help. Heading into the game, Gophers won 1 game in last 6, only beating Indiana.
11. Indiana (5-5, 2-5) - LW 13 - Hoosiers broke a 4-game skid vs the Terps. They have allowed the most points vs B1G teams when comparing them to the B1G East. Only Illinois and Nebraska have allowed more points in the season.
12. Maryland (5-5, 3-4) - LW 9 - This may be bad timing for the Terps to start a losing streak with Ohio State and Penn State remaining. They have lost 3 of their last 5 games, only beating Rutgers and Illinois.
13. Illinois (4-6, 2-5) - LW 13 - Illinois lost 4 of last 5 games. There are 2 teams to allow 300 points for the season - Illinois, Indiana, and Nebraska. Illinois is the only to allow 300 points vs B1G opponents
14. Rutgers (1-8, 0-7) - LW14 - In B1G play, the Rutgers have allowed nearly 3x more points than they have scored and is the only team to reach 100 points in B1G play. Only 1 team has scored less points in the season than Rutgers has vs B1G.

Nebraska lost to Ohio State by 5, not 7

Hmmmm — So Higdon is top 10 in the country in rushing yards (while missing a game), has the longest stretch of 100 yard games in CFB and he is the 4th best RB in the B1G?

And Shea Patterson has been named one of the 10 finalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and one of 16 semi-finalists for the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s top QB and he is 6th in the B1G.

Who knew the B1G had such explosive offenses?!?

Higdon might not have played in a game but he has the carries. I should have put Corbin above Sanders and Higdon. Going into last week, Corbin had 11 less rushing yards with 70 less carries and more TAds. And more receiving yards.

And what are the chances Adrian Martinet was ever going to make an award? What are the chances Shea Patterson would be with the same stats and losing record?

If Patterson were playing in a pass happy spread offense, I’d guess he’d put up over 300 yards a week — as he did in his 9 starts at Ole Miss.

Fact is — he has more TD, less interceptions, a better QB rating and completes 67% of his passes without the benefit of throwing so many screens (he averages 1.5 yards more per attempt than Martinez)

I probably have a warped view of Martinez as he completed 7 of 15 for 22 yards and 1 int, to go along with 7 carries for -12 yards against UM.
