And with the 10th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select................a RB?

I sure hope not, but didn't Detroit grab Gibbs while they still had Montgomery & Swift? I dont exactly recall.

But honestly, you want to improve the running game by leaps and bounds, fix the middle of the O line first.

yes they did, deemed as stupid as drafting Ragnow in the first round.

I read this a week ago,and like you,I was kinda like what the heck is that pick.....Only thing I can think of the writer must think we will be signing olineman during freeagency......or he does not know how bad our line is/was.....

EVen if we did have that oline in place,Id rather see top rated dline in place before rb.....
Altho having a Gibbs type of rb would be great,he Gibbs is probably a product of that oline Detroit has......and Im not saying he is only a product of that line, but it sure does help him alot.....

it was more interesting reading that Jerry Jones wanted to trade up and also interview Deion for his head coaching position.

Would have to be some kind of RB, I tell you.

For the Bears right now is dumb, maybe in another season, but Im actually hoping in 2026,we are draftingin the 26-32 pick.....

But it looks to me Detroit got Gibbs right and Atlanta got Bijan right.....
Not sure what other teams has taken rb high......

Not advocating a RB that early, but Swift isnt the answer imo.

Lots of RB about to hit free agency but none stand out as a more-improved option to Swift.

Agree.

Detroit, however, already had their offensive line in order when they took Gibbs.

Bears don't have that so I have to believe their plan is gonna be different.

There are some capable RBs that will be free agents and you can always draft a skill guy later. I don't see how that #10 pick can be a runner.

Ben Johnson was asked by a reporter yesterday how his offense would look with the Bears and if he would employ the same scheme he used with the Lions. His answer was basically that things would look different with the Bears because the players are different. Which is 100% the right answer.

I gotta believe a creative offensive guy like Johnson is drooling over being able to work with a QB like Caleb Williams. There are things CW can do inside and outside the pocket that Goff simply can't do.

I expect Johnson to push to add speed to the offense and I think you can expect to see a spread type offense next season. BJ likes play action....CW didn't perform well in play action in his rookie year. That's fixable with practice and coaching. CW also needs work on his deep ball accuracy. I think it's here where BJ will help the most because he will attack the middle of the field more down the seams.

I can't wait for free agency so we get a better idea of what the draft plan is gonna be.

Agreeing with both of you. No doubt Swift fizzled as a starting RB and Johnson doesn't seem to be anything beyond 2nd banana, with 3rd/4th & short capabilities. I like what Jeanty brings to the table, but as BWW stated, we don't have the luxury of using our 1st pick on a RB, unless somehow, some way 3 or 4 OL and a starting DE/Edge is acquired via free agency. And that seems like too tall of an order to fill.

Yeah, I would never want us to draft a RB (especially at #10). That being said, Gibbs is what happens when you combine a great offensive line/scheme with a generational RB.

Make no mistake, Gibbs is special. I love watching that kid run. Yes, though, I agree with what you're saying.

well the ones that are about to hit free agency are also going to profit from the latest contracts. They thought McCaffery would move the market, it really didnt, then Saquan got paid and David Montgomery got another extension for 18 million over 2 seasons this time, and he still had a year left at 6 million. He had an out or one year at 9.25 million, but is now locked up at 9 million for the next 3 seasons.

We had Monty, had Herbert, had Roshan, all were productive. What happened? Monty left, then Herbert and Johnson should have been battling for the carries, but Poles swoops in with Swift and just destroyed that running back room. Nobody seems to have the story of what happened with Herbert, so I guess its up to us to assume again. Flame away boys or give me some valid answer or get over yourselves and just block me already..

I will take drafting a running back, but if they do not draft an actual center this time, I have no hope Poles will ever do anything right. Got the QB and HIS REQUEST at WR, time for RB and C and a couple guards Caleb can see over.

LOL...A little bit overdramatic. Our offense was sh*t. Shane Waldron was probably a top 5 worst hire in NFL history.

I'll bite.
Monty was 3 seasons ago.

But since we all (*sarcastically*) love the plethora of screen passes, the horrible offensive play-calling the last 3 seasons makes it rather easy for defenses. Load the line of scrimmage and defenses can protect against the run as well as the unimaginable screen passes.

Here's one where the Bears selection is much more logical:

I've seen Kelvin Banks, Jr mentioned as a Bears pick here and there in other online drafts. Naturally, what actions Poles takes in this offseason and how he has draftees ranked will determine who the Bears choose and at which position, but Banks seems to be a solid pick at this point.

This mock has the Jets and Raiders taking OL when neither may have a starting QB. Cant argue over the philosophy but i wonder if that need changes since both franchises will have a new GM and HC.

That could benefit the Bears if one or both pull the trigger on a QB.

Yes indeed it could. I've often stated that no matter what the mocks show or what the analysts explain months in advance, as the draft draws closer and closer, the panic for clubs needing a starting QB begins to set in, and more often than not QBs are taken earlier than many originally believed. It happens almost every year. I would think as Bears fans, we want as many non-OL/DL players as possible taken prior to our 10th pick.
