What's wrong with last year? He produced on a shitty team with a shitty QB. The whole season was after his mcl was repaired.

Start naming the guys that were as good as Hopkins that fell off after 30...

Torry Holt kicked ass at age 31 and then the Rams hit rick bottom. You got anyone else close?

TO, tim brown, jerry rice, isaac bruce, larry fitzgerald, marvin harrison, reggie wayne, andre johnson, steve smith, cris carter, anquan boldin..

Vs

Julio Jones.

Hopkins entire career he has played on shitty teams with a shitty QB it wasn't only last year. I am also not saying at age 31 he will be down I am saying by age 30 the skill position player has peaked and it is natural from that point forward that with age and wear/tear that he will begin to run slower and jump with less height in which I wouldn't give him a multi year deal. I think a 1-2 year would be more fitting. Lastly I don't think only comparing him to only other HoF players is a valid argument.

Well Hopkins isn't a ton of other WRs. He's a HoF one of the best ever. He has also shown no signs of going into decline.

So if you were a GM you would lock him in on a multi year contract and pay him until whenever he starts to decline?

If I needed a WR them yeah absolutely. One of the best players at his position who still has years left at a high level.

It does beg the question: how many contenders have the money right now?
Both Buffalo and KC have less than $1.9M.

Hopkins has said that OBJ's contract would be in his ballpark now that the FA and draft dust has settled, That would be about $15M.

When the Chiefs were talking trade with the Cardinals they wanted to restructure DHop's contract with a $3M base and $12M in incentives. He said absolutely no. Reason? Because the team could control where Mahomes threw th ball and might tnrow his incentives elsewhere.

Buffalo wouldn't/couldn't consider anything near $15M without completely restricting existing contracts or cutting players. They don't want to mortgage the future for a potential part time player.

DHop will be 31 and wants a 3 year deal. Right now, the Patriots have about $14M available and could could finagle around enough to sign him. Problem is that BB would give Jakobi Meyers (4 years younger, never missed a game) $15m for 3 years. Doubt he'd offer DHop anything over 2 years $16M with a very few incentives.

He already has. Had to take PEDs and got caught and suspended for 8 games. Without the meds, how good will he really be?

Totally agree. And to be honest, I hate the Von Miller deal for similar reasons.

Except he came back from the suspension and was great despite playing on a dumpster fire of a team with a QB dead set on tanking his career?

this post has more to do with your desire to slam Murray.

No it just points out that he hasn't declined at all. Came back from his suspension and was great despite playing in a God awful situation.

sure...it's all about his lack of support

What is all about his lack of support? What are you missing? Hopkins wasn't bad last year. In 9 games he had 64 receptions for 717 yards. You expand that to a full season and you're looking at 121 receptions and 1,354 yards. How is that bad and the sign of a player in decline?

DHop wouldn't be a normal 'Patriots' move. I'm reminded a bit of Wes Welker who around Nuk's age got hit with a PED and went from a pretty big deal to out of the league in a couple of years. I do think Nuk is a better player but 3 years is just silly talk. Maybe the Patriots do it but if they do it'll be on their terms.

I'm guessing when the dust settles and the smoke clears, Hopkins will sign with the Chiefs. Seems to be the greatest need/fit amongst the teams contending for his services.

PEDs to get healthy. Smart guy.

Doesn't need them to be good at his position. That's a silly argument.

That would be flat out unfair

Maybe so, but based on team needs and ability to absorb his contract, I just see the Chiefs as being the top contender. I mean, you never know these days, but when I add it all up, it points to the Chiefs as the best fit.

Yeah who the hell knows what you thought I said. Think you're starting to show some signs of dementia.

Andy is getting up there in age. Why not just pair a top WR with Mahomes for the next few years.
