Yeah that was bad. Really difficult to watch. But this game didn't seem as bad. Up 12 with under 10 to go and you lose? Sounds like a lot UVA did wrong then blaming the refs. Especially considering Nova only had 6 free throw attempts from that point on. Blaming the refs for this seems like a real stretch.

Didn't watch it, so I can't really comment on that. Just know that Karl Hess (RIP), Jamie Luckie and TV Teddy are pretty awful refs.

Most of the 2nd half was really bad. Neither team was really allowed to play basketball.

I didn't watch a lot of the game.

But i figured when in the first half I saw the 10-1 free throw attempts and the 24-3 attempts in second half that there would be bitching.

The parts I watched saw 1 team driving to the rack...it was the team drawing fouls.
30 of UVA'S points were in the paint. That's 50%. What more could they have done? In comparison, 20 of Nova's points were in the paint, 33%.

If you're gettig fouled those are not paint points. Nova was getting hacked on their drives and cuts.

If anything when I watched they let things go pretty impressively. A few times Bridges woulda went to the line if the refs were pansies.

I saw Parrentes complain about 1 call wanting an And 1 which was totally not a foul

If anything HE initiated the contact.. but yes, that was not a foul at all. Nova did get lucky

Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Villanova was last whistled for a foul with 14:51 left in the second half.

It's just a midseason non-conference game dude.

It's relatively meaningless in the large scheme of things. As long as neither team annihilated the other team.

I will be honest. UVA is a bad match up for us. You probably beat us 7 out of 10 times on a neutral court. But we definitely beat you guys today. We had 4 FGs in the first half (remember Jim Jackson saying it) and at the end of the game we had 17. Those turnovers at the end by UVA were bad, inexcusable turnovers. I've seen it so many times this season that a team is on cruise control on the road and the home team storms back to win and Marquette did it to us earlier in the week.

UVA is a good looking team tho.

I'm also starting to become really concerned that Collins is leaving after this year. For selfish reasons, of course.

He is a beast man. Projected 2nd rounder this year. If he stays another year with the addition of Brown, Wake should be a top 25 team next year for sure. Hopefully, this young team can learn from all these close losses and turn them into wins next year. I think Manning has done a good job at acquiring a lot of talent.

I was just looking at Collins' stats. He should honestly be getting more than 10 shots per game.

I think identifying talent and developing it has been Manning's strong point as a coach so far.

I was talking to someone at the game on Saturday and they were surprised when I told them that Collins, Crawford, Woods and Moore were all Sophomores. Right now, I think Wake's best 4 players right now are Collins, Crawford, Woods and Childress. That's 3 sophomores and 1 freshman. People forget that this is still a young team. I'm just hoping all of these close losses will eventually pay off.

6 of Wake's top 9 guys are under classmen. Wilbekin and Mitoglou are Juniors. Everyone but Arians will be returning next year (unless JC goes to the draft). We'll be replacing Arians with consensus Top 40 guy in Chaundee Brown. I also think Melo Eggleston has a chance to be another under-rated guy that Manning has found.

I was just looking at Collins' stats. He should honestly be getting more than 10 shots per game.

He's currently only playing around 24 minutes a game due to foul trouble. I do think that he should get more touches when he is in the game, though. Think he should get a touch every time Wake has a traditional possession, imo.

My favorite part about him is how likable he is. I don't even think opponents can dislike him, even after he torches them. He doesn't showboat, he doesn't complain, he just goes out there and plays ball. He's the anti-Devin Thomas in that regard.

Wake went 0-2 last week, but that was actually predicted. Going 0-2 last week didn't hurt them at all in the computer rankings.

However 0-2 last week, gives them zero room for error. Have to win the games they're predicted to win now and that includes @BC, GT, NCSU, Pitt.

All of those games are potential losses. No nights off in this league.

College basketball should really look into changing the fouls from 5 to 6. These refs are always whistle happy and in most games, you have several key players in major foul trouble

Pretty big for Duke. 2 much needed road wins assuming they don't choke this away. Now they go home for 3 straight. 2 of them should be easy wins. The obvious difficult one is the UNC game.

Only 3 ranked teams left on Duke schedule. 2 games vs UNC, home vs Va Tech, and away against Virginia. However road games vs Cuse and Miami will be challenging but if they play how they did in the 2nd half vs Wake and tonight vs ND then they should be fine. Need to find away to stop fouling though. Too many top players been in foul trouble lately.

If Duke doesn't shit the bed against State they would be one game back in the standings. They need a strong game against Pitt Saturday.

Things ended up balancing out for Duke last week, imo. Should have beaten State, but should have lost to Wake. Can't get #greedy

Yep. They even have it in the Women's game. What is the hold up? Kinda sick of seeing several big players in foul trouble every game. NBA play 8 more minutes and they rarely have this issue where you have 3 or 4 of the top players participating in that game in major foul trouble

I don't think changing to quarters will have any effect on players being in foul trouble. It will have an effect on how many free throws are being shot, however, because the bonus resets each quarter

True. Refs call too much nonsense though. I think moving fouls from 5 to 6 is the right move
