nah, i went to the Wake/UVa game on Sunday. was pulling for Wake

i was being partially sarcastic in that post, lmao. It'll be super embarrassing for the ACC to only get 3 teams in the NCAAT.

I feel pretty confident the ACC will get more than 3 invites to the big dance just because they are the ACC.

Protecting the Brotherhood, and he may be the next head coach if K has a say in it, which I'm certain he does

When the time comes that is going to be a tough choice for Duke to make but no matter which choice they make I'll be surprised if they continue to play at as high a level as they annually play at now which is to be expected.

Because it would sound like “shit with us” instead? Hey he’s nearly 75 years old so he’s probably heard it all.

A question for you my friend:

I know our personal choices don't count but when the time comes for Coach K to hang it up who would be your personal choice to replace him if Duke decides to stay in-house?

My choice would be Tommy Amaker because I just think he is the best coach out there with Duke blood in him.

Current Harvard HC Tommy Amaker(53) is a tremendous choice, or any others from the Coach K coaching tree. Mike Brey(59) at Notre Dame didn't play at Duke but was an assistant under K for many years, Bobby Hurley(47) at Arizona State, Johnny Dawkins(55) at Central Florida, Jeff Capel(44), Chris Collins(44), Wojo(42) at Marquette, Quinn Snyder(52) at the Utah Jazz, John Scheyer(32) is current assistant at Duke, Nate James(42) current assistant at Duke, Chris Carawell (42) current assistant at Duke-

Then there's Brad Stevens who it's been bantered around a bit, Greg Popovich who was K's successer with Team USA, any and all of these guys would be outstanding hires, etc

But if I had to choose right now it would be Capel, lot's of reasons why, but my main thing is he can recruit at the highest level and has experience doing it there, is a former Duke player and assistant, and comes from a coaching family, etc

Thanks for your answer to my question. I would have lost money if I had bet that you would have chosen Capel even though I understand your reasons for choosing him. I guess we will all have to wait and see who it will be when the time comes.

Well, that's why I'm not Athletic Director and Kevin White is so he can make the tough decisions- if he's still AD when K retires

Maybe it will be Jay Bilas or the G-Man who takes over for all we know, LOL.

There are 8,200 Monday morning quarterbacks on this site and we are only 2 of them.

This was on his twitter feed-

A couple of thoughts:
1. I am so GRATEFUL to have played for a coach that is so LOYAL and GENUINELY loves his guys, and is not afraid to express it!
2. I pray that I am able to live to 70+ years old. If I do, I hope to have half the passion for anything that MY COACH still has!

It can't be said any better than that from one who respects and admires his mentor in any walk of life.

You know how I feel about Carolina but I think Roy Williams has this same respect and admiration for Dean Smith.

Jeff Capel would be an excellent hire if Duke wants to have a little post-Coach K down period.

I don't think it matters who K's successor might be as there will definitely be a decline as would be expected

Absolutely and the same thing will happen to Carolina once ole Roy is gone no matter who they hire.

There is a difference between taking a few steps back and a 1000 steps back

Hiring Capel would be the latter

A couple of questions for you my friend:

1/ What are your reasons for not liking Capel?

2/ Who is your recommendation to replace Coach K when the time comes?

what makes you think he will be a bust as HC at Duke?

Capel was a bust at the only previous P6 coaching stop he's had

too early to tell how he's going to do @ Pitt, but I wouldn't hold my breath
