Duke landed 4* (Top 50) PF Javin DeLaurier this past weekend.

Wake Forest just received a commitment from 4* (Top 100) C Samuel Japhet-Mathias.

Both schools remain in the thick of things for Harry Giles. Duke is also in the race to land 5* Wenyen Gabriel.

I think they'll be a good team this(NCAA Tourney 7-10 seed). Obviously losing Grant will severely hurt, but Connaughton was an extremely valuable piece of the puzzle last year as well. It'll be interesting to see what Brey does with the line up this year. Last year basically having 4 guards and a big out there. I say that because Colson will be one of the Irish's best 5 players. I'd go with this as their starting line up:

PG: Jackson
SG: Vasturia
SF: Beachem
PF: Colson
C: Auguste

For them to exceed expectations they are going to need significant contributions from the talented freshman they brought in to provide some depth.

That appears to be a very good starting five.

@WakeRivals
BREAKING - Wake senior guard Codi Miller-McIntyre will miss 4-6 weeks after having surgery to repair a foot fracture.

Wonderful. Probably Wake's best player. Wake also plays a tough OOC schedule this year. Hopefully he'll miss 4 weeks (but he'll probably miss six) and can get the rust back before the ACC season starts.

Good thing that that the ACC's competent leader Swofford didn't randomly put Wake's first ACC game this year in early December like he/they did last year.

Tough luck Hitman. I heard today that Chris Webber, former Michigan and NBA player(yes, infamous time out against uNC), is teaching a course at Wake Forest. No kidding.

Webber to teach master's class at Wake

I heard that too, douggie.

FWIW, Webber was on campus last year and met up with Manning (who I'm sure he has a prior relationship with) and the team.

I also just realized in my previous post that I said "hopefully CMM can get the rust back before the ACC season starts". Pretty sure I meant get the rust OFF. :L

I think SU will be much better than most are predicting. Cooney and Silent G will be one of the better backcourts in D1. There's a shit load of experience there anyways.

But for SU to be successful, I need some help from the surgery Gods. SU's Center, Dajuan Coleman sat out all of last year after knee surgery and SU will need him to be healthy all year and he needs to be able to play 30 minutes a game by January. Coleman's the only real center SU has.

Wake Forest men’s basketball players Cornelius Hudson and Rondale Watson will serve suspensions at the beginning of the 2015-16 season for a violation of departmental rules, head coach Danny Manningannounced Saturday (Oct. 31).

While Watson is viewed as the guy that is currently holding Harry Giles' scholarship if Giles chooses Wake, Hudson was/is going to be one of the most improved players in the ACC this year. He has grown two inches and gained 20+ lbs. over the off-season after a nice Freshman year.

If Hudson is out for a while, then this is going to be a big loss for a team that is already without Codi Miller-McIntyre.

Damn Syracuse took a nasty loss to SJU. I have to expect it though. Live and die by the 3. They will be world beaters occasionally ... but games like this one are going to happen all year.

Wake still isn't receiving any votes (in either poll), while South Carolina, who has played an embarrassingly baby soft OOC schedule, is now ranked #25 in the coaches poll.
