Crap. Was in hopes that we would get Justin Anderson back this weekend, but he had to have an appendectomy last night.

My God, when it rains it pours. Sorry to hear his return was slowed yet again. I hope the Cavs are at full roster when the NCAA's start.

I'd rather it happen now at least to give those fingers a little extra time to heal. Hope for a speedy recovery and that he's back for at least the main tournament.

Yep, saw this article and after I read it, I just said to myself that this author was an absolute moron. The game of basketball is about "winning". Not whether it's appealing to certain groups or in UVA's case, whether it is "good for the game" or not.

That's true to an extent, but at some point you have to look beyond yourself and look at "the greater good." Just ask the UAW. The UAW wasn't about making good cars or, helping out The Big Three. The UAW was all about getting the most money and benefits for their members... Right up until the point that the nearly bankrupted the entire American automotive industry. I'm not saying that UVA is going to kill college basketball, but if that style of play is considered boring/unwatchable by most fans and if that style of play were to catch on at other programs due to UVA's success with it, and if that proliferation of Boring Ballcaused ratings and revenue to drop, then I think you could make the claim that it was bad for basketball. But that's a lot of "if's."

Harry Giles is transferring to Oak Hill for his final year of High School. This pretty much destroys the only advatange Wake had in his recruitment. Its becoming more obvious each day that he is Duke bound.

Hopefully Manning has a backup plan.

Wake Forest just lost a recruit to Mississippi State. Also lost a recruit to Miami over a week ago.

I don't think this program is ever going to recover from the Jeff Bzdelik debacle.

Yea, I don't think WF ever had a chance at the #1 prospect in the country anyway. Sucks that Duke is gonna get him, though.... that's for sure

Probably would have already landed him if Dino was still at Wake.

Thanks Ron Wellman and Jeff Bzdelik.

Its obvious that unlike his predecessor, Coach Manning doesn't play around and has a firm grasp on his program.

I agree with that DBR article. Jones was a decent to good on the ball defender, but he was pretty poor in everything else. He was a terrible shooter. When Jones and CMM (I love CMM, but a shooter he is not) started when Jeff Bzdelik was still the coach, that had to be the worst shooting backcourt in ACC history. Last year, Coach Manning removed Jones from the starting lineup and replaced him with Mitchell Wilbekin. Wilbekin's strength is shooting it.

Jones also played very out of control at times. I'm glad he's is staying in school to get his degree from Wake.

In recruiting news:

Wake Forest is hosting Top 100 guard Koby McEwen this weekend. This is an important get for Wake. Wake already has two commits for the class of 2016 and while they aren't highly regarded by the recruiting experts, they have defined skill sets.

Brandon Childress is a pure PG who can light it up from deep. Fran Fraschilla has described Brandon Childress as a smaller version of his dad, former Wake Forest AA Randolph Childress.

Richard Washington is a versatile SG/SF who can shoot it from deep and is also a very good passer.

Manning liked both of these guys and made them his first priority this recruiting season. Normally, I'm kinda concerned about having lower ranked guys (both are 3*). However, Coach Manning has proven he has a good eye for talent and he wanted these guys from the beginning, so its not like they are his second, third or fourth choices.

McEwen is a guy who can create his own shot and take it hard to the rim. He also has very impressive athleticism. He would be a very important get for the Deacs as he compliments Childress' and Washington's game very well.

McEwen also has visits scheduled for Utah State and Georgia Tech. An addition to those two schools, he also holds offers from Baylor and Mississippi.
