They are a year away from being a real problem in the West.

Kings needed a little better set of picks

They got their own pick back which helps some, which could be big if they go heavy tank and get some lotto luck like the Hawks did and they end up getting Flagg. But its moreso how do you let the Spurs get an all star without making them give up literally anything for their future. One of those teams, especially Sacramento, should have forced the issue on either more picks or Castle or Johnson

Spurs still have like a ton of assets in the next few years
I think they started with 12 first rounders in the next 6 year and a ton of salary cap space,
They were never going to be able to use all of them.

They gave up nothing of any real value and got another player for Wemby
One pick they gave up (Chicago's original pick) ends up back in Chicago's hands....so its unlikely to convey now for the Spurs anyways.
That was the best place to put that pick.

The rebuild is coming nicely and without much cost.

But at the end of the day, that’s a terrible way for an organization to conduct their business. Any organization that is coming into something saying “let me hedge in case I fail” should just pack it in. You’re going to actualize your failure if you think that way. Parting with a guy on the back end of his career for a 25 year old generational talent is a no brainer. Personally, I think without LeBron, AD is an expensive albatross for the Lakers to carry into their future. He’s not an alpha or a Batman. I don’t think he ever was. He’s definitely not now.

Not everyone can be a Batman.

But seriously, I agree.
AD is not suited to be the Laker's #1 as LeBron declines and plays less minutes.
