Here's the answer to sitting players: all salaries are broken into per game buckets. No game checks without playing unless you have a confirmed injury. They can have maybe 5 or 10 freebies, then they start losing money (or assess appropriate fines if they can't work salaries like that).

Healthy resting players shouldn't be paid IMO.

And shouldn't count against the cap then.

Yeah. If they really take a hardcore stance on it, teams will just start sitting players with vague issues that are difficult to disprove like "lower back tightness" to avoid punishment.

He's no longer a plus defender but he can hold his own, he will be the Big Shot Bob (Horry) on the Spurs type role, old vet with rings who makes shots to help push for a title.

I think him moving on was good for both sides, he can start fresh in a specific role, the Warriors got younger and more athletic.

I think he's more like Boston Ray Allen. No longer the guy you rely on, but as the 3rd option is going to get his on any given night. I could see him averaging 18 pts a game this year just in this role. Defensively he's still reliable.

It's clear he needed a fresh start. I'm hoping he continues to ball out except when they play the Warriors, obv.
