I know it’s super early and also it’s only against the Blazers but I love the way the Warriors are defending. They’re flying all over the place because of this 12 man rotation. We will have to see how the defense holds up but looking miles ahead of last years team.

Over 82 games you need that

But in the offs you’d still cut to 8 or 9

Apparently the whole team did training camp in Hawaii together so the team vibes are good. Being a deep team will be interesting especially in the regular season.

I’ve been a Embiid defender
But him not playing the first week is ridiculous

If his knee is that shaky then why play in the Olympics?

If you can only play 30-40 games in the season just retire dude
No, the regular season is lame and doesn't matter.

These are all preseason games until May.

I was told I was foolish when I said Philly should trade him while he had value. The fact that he and George can't even make it to opening day without issues is pretty bleak.
Who gives a shit about opening day?

Only losers care about the regular season.

We have still not ever seen one of the most unique and talented big men to ever play the game play healthy in the postseason.

Nah, they downgraded trading Towns for Randle and DDV.

I know it was just 1 game but their defense didn't look good at all last night. And Randle is going to be all about his stats.

DDV was solid, and they could still flip Randle by the deadline if he doesn't become a better fit. Lakers did shoot horribly from 3, but I think that was as much or more on the Lakers' shooters than the Wolves defense.

Edwards doesn't seem to look for his teammates unless he's doubled, which could stall the offense a bit. That will come with experience hopefully.

Unless Randle has an improved year on the perimeter, his fit with Gobert will be difficult. Being a late summer addition, it will take some time to fit into the offensive and defensive schemes.

They're not saying that he is injured though, they are basically saying his body can't take games without extended rest anymore due to pain. It's not a good thing to hear obviously but it is not faking any injury.

It's either:

True, and Embiid is breaking down.

False, and Embiid is not in good enough shape to play basketball on opening day.

We'll find out whenever they finally put him on the court. Their strategy this year seems to be, he can't break down right before the playoffs again if we don't play him!

That's all well and good, but how do you explain away skipping the preseason and the first week of the season if he's "not injured"?

Here's the answer to sitting players: all salaries are broken into per game buckets. No game checks without playing unless you have a confirmed injury. They can have maybe 5 or 10 freebies, then they start losing money (or assess appropriate fines if they can't work salaries like that).

Healthy resting players shouldn't be paid IMO.

He supposedly lost a considerable amount of weight, will be interesting to see once he hits the court....in November?

It's pretty clear that they only plan to play him 50 something games this year.

Daryl Morey would take the 6 seed and a healthy Embiid and George right now.

No guarantee that 50 games isn't enough to get either injured. Playing careful is sometimes worse for injury risks.
