Because there is no rush to take the least smelly shit sandwich when the guy has 3 years after this one left on his deal.

Haven't heard anything suggesting he is being a malcontent.

So, no need to rush to make a bad deal.

Not like anything on your roster, outside the obvious 2 is actually better than having Dejounte.

Frankly, I'm confused as to why they want to deal him to begin with, unless they are getting back someone better.

From what I've read, Murray and Trae don't fit well. Reaves isn't as good as Murray, but he would fit better with Trae. He has shown that he can play alongside stars and still find ways to positively impact a game.

As I said earlier...when the Lakers traded Westbrook, they didn't get a single player back who is as talented as he is...but they did get guys who fit better. Sometimes it's better to go with a less talented player who fits better.

As for whether they need to do something or not, if memory serves, the Hawks expected to be a playoff team this year. Instead, they are 13-19, if they think that Murray and Trae not fitting well is a big part of the reason, it makes sense to move Murray asap.

Also, I haven't really seen where there are a lot of rumors of teams wanting Murray. There seem to be rumors around a lot of other players. If other teams don't feel they need him, it shrinks the market.

And for the record, I'm not saying that if I were the Hawks GM that I'd make the trade. The question was...why would they make it?

Austin Reaves does not move the needle on a roster without multiple stars.

Yes, fit absolutely matters.

The theory that Trae and Murray don't fit is based on the premise that Dejounte is a better player with the ball in his hands.

He definitely is.

But his numbers having to be secondary are still pretty good at 20, 5 and 5.

Austin wouldn't replicate that and he is clearly a downgrade defensively.

Reaves isn't a traffic cone by any stretch of the imagination.

But you need a defensive stalwart to mitigate Trae's fuckery.

Yeah.....

If they wanted him gone and that was the best offer, agree.

But, I had it wrong.

He has 4 years left after this one.

So, unless he is causing issues, no rush.

“Fuckery” used on Jan 1, going to be a great year

True. There are a lot of ways to shore up a defense though. Reaves is adequate enough defensively that the Hawks wouldn't hide him like Trae. Depending on what other moves they make, they could cover for Trae defensively while still benefitting from Reaves being a better fit alongside him.

There's a lot more to it than simply how many years he has left on his deal. I know you know this, not sure why you think it matters.

Especially since Reaves has 3 years left on a contract that is about half of what Murrays is, so it would free up some money for the Hawks to add other pieces.

Also, if memory serves, the Hawks expected to be a playoff team this year. With 50 games left, they are 13-19...so time is running out on this season.

Question....

.....and think it through a second before giving in to the understandable first reaction of.....HELL NO.

Would you trade Dlo for Sexton if you could get Olynyk in the deal and still get to keep Reaves?

Obviously, you would have to include... say, Gabe and Hayes and filler.

But, I bet you could swing that for cheap.

How many years he has matters if he's trying to force his way out, which I have not seen anyone imply.

How many years he has matters if his agent thinks he can dictate the terms of where he goes, or where he doesn't, if the rumors are true Klutch wants nothing to do with Leon Rose.

We just saw this dance play out with Dame.

Years on the deal clearly matter because he can't/won't sit out 4 years just because he doesn't get his way.

That's the only reason I mention his deal.

Fuck yes I'm doing that deal. That's a robbery. The question is why would Utah do it? Get Danny Ainge real drunk and once he signs off, lock him in a closet without his phone until the deal goes thru

Funny you ask that, I'm actually a fan of the Lakers getting Olynyk. I think he's ideal to spell AD as well as someone who could play alongside him.

D-Lo and Sexton have very similar numbers, but I think D-Lo might be slightly better defensively (at least he's making an effort lol).

But yeah, I'd do that trade, especially if Reaves could be kept...but I'd be more excited about getting Olynyk. lol

So Klutch = Fuckery sums it up

Okay, that makes sense. Thought you were talking more about team control.

It definitely matters in situations like you mentioned...so far, this doesn't seem to be that kind of situation.
