If you think I'm a homer you CLEARLY have never read a single post from me about the Lakers on this board. I'm like the exact opposite of a homer. If anything, I'm overly critical of the team. It would have been nice for him to have participated...especially since many of the all-time greats that he wants to be considered part of participated, including MJ and Kobe.

But he didn't ruin it...there not being any more original dunks left is what has ruined it. That and ALL of the star level players stopped participating, not just Lebron.

I think a lot of it comes from AAU. Before AAU got huge, a lot of these guys came into the league not knowing but having heard of the other guys. A lot of times there was a little animosity built up because of that.

Magic and Bird came into the league hating each other even though they'd never met. It was constantly reading how the other guy was better.

These days, these guys meet playing AAU ball and are already friends when they enter the league.

Magic and bird faced off in the NCAA championship game.
