from the dub last night 6 foot 5 Flames prospect playing for the Victoria Royals Keegan Kanzig takes a huge punch that knocks him down

the thing to note about this ... this is a junior hockey telecast so the broadcast is synced with the big screen in the arena ... they show the slo mo fight replay on the big screen ... and right before the knockout punch ... they switch to the crowd shot watching the big screen ... and the fans all boo because they didnt get to see the replay of the knockout punch

It's a shame these two "rivals" only play once a year. It always seems to be a good game when they play. Sounded like tonight was a very entertaining back and forth game. Glad to see the Hat come away with a point. I believe this was the Chiefs' last game ever in the old arena. When they return in 2015 the new barn should be ready to go.

I love the old Arena, but it definitely is showing its age (and the flooding this past summer didn't help any). I'm glad they're finally breaking ground on a new arena and who knows, maybe the Hat will host a Memorial Cup down the road.

/I'm hearing Vancouver is planning to make a bid for the 2016 Memorial Cup.

Tigers beat the PA Raiders tonight 5-3 (and Shinky returned to the lineup tonight, no points, but good to see him back playing). Spokane toyed with Lethbridge for two periods before scoring four goals in the 3rd period and winning 6-2 (Holmberg with the hat trick tonight, the kid is en fuego).

I saw that Pens prospect, G Matt Murray, was named to team OHL for the Super Series. Apparently this kid is kicking some serious butt this season in the OHL for the Greyhounds! :yahoo:

Tigers give up a late goal to the Hitmen (10 seconds left with the goalie pulled for an extra attacker), but pull out a 3-2 win in the shootout. Shinky got a goal tonight. Nice little run for the Tigers as of late.

Chiefs drop a 3-2 decision to Kootenay tonight. Always a tough game in that building. Take a wild guess who got both Chiefs goals. Unfortunately that line is about the only one putting the puck in the net through 21 games. The Chiefs really need to get someone else to pick up the scoring slack, but I think that help would have to come from outside the organization. And Speltz has never been big on trading prospects or high end draft picks for top end players.

Tigers defeat the Cougars 6-1 in Prince George tonight - Portland took Seattle to the woodshed to the tune of 10-2 (ouch).

Penguins goalie prospect Matt Murray wins OHL player of the week award:

Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds

Really cool to see this kid playing so well this season. His season in 2012-13 wasn't a very good one, so it is nice to see him tearing it up so far this year. He has a 12-2-0-2 record and currently leads the OHL with a league-low goals-against-average of 2.10 and league-high save percentage of .930.

This is for anyone who's seen Ryan Pulock play. I realize stats don't tell the whole story. Brandon is 8th in their division. Pulock has 7G 11A 18 points in 17 games. How good is he? Who would you compare him to in the NHL? Thanks.

Also, I think 15 year old phenom Tyler Benson will be playing one of his four games for the Giants tonight. No pressure (lol)

Edit: Actually, he's playing against Tri-City on Saturday night.

Nice pressure to drop on a kid. Front Page of sports today.
And in the accompanying article it mentions the Giants' last #1 overall - Gilbert Brule!

G-men beat the Tigers 3-2 - There's something about the building that's bad mojo for Medicine Hat.
