Texas Athletics did not get to be worth nearly a billion dollars and lap the field in revenues...for being stupid with money and intellectual property rights.

Merchandising and Apparel is arguably more important to Texas than any other school.
Texas would sell its logo to starving 3rd world children if they thought it was a viable market.
And, they will sue the heck out of anyone who even attempts to get a penny of it.

TEXAS might not always win on the field.
But, they are not going to let anyone beat them at the Cash Register.

I am surprised it took this long for them to protect that potential Asset.

This is probably true since they took Ryan O'Neal to court in an attempt to get the Andy Warhol painting of Farah Fawcett that she gifted to him. Pretty cold when he nursed her while she died of cancer and she had already donated millions in art to UT.

So what you're saying is that I better get moving on protecting my intellectual property "DONGHORNS.COM"?

Texas is trademarking the nickname "Stronghorns", a pun on Longhorns and new Head Coach Charlie Strong. From ESPN:

This Oklahoma native has been calling that team the "Wronghorns" for some time now, but I doubt that will ever be
trademarked.

Would it be legal for an Oklahoma college to trademark it? Probably not, but I find the idea amusing.

son, I think you are the one who needs to get their facts, straight....

Yahoo!

A painting that O'Neal supposedly owned was in the possession of Fawcett for years and was on her insurance policy. After she died he went over to her residence(where he didn't live) and took it.

Then his cronies got together and said he always owned it. Yeah, right, it was his all along.

yer boy opened his mouth and was wrong. merely pointing out that fact....and really, neither you nor I will ever know the real facts, but will merely have our opinions.....and that is a fact.
