Would not have mattered. Texas would have scored regardless. That offense raped that SC defense with ease.

I never missed a Georgia game, and if it was raining outside I'd watch the other big matchups of the day. The Texas-USC game was the first National Championship game I watched.

On the flip side, my first Longhorn game was the '83 Cotton Bowl vs. UGA. I was 10 years old. I only remember it being cold as hell and raining. UGA won 10-9 spoiling UT's chance to win the NC. Ya bastards!!!!!

That was during my freshman year at UT.

May have been the best defense we've ever hand. That loss still stings more than any other loss. If only we had a halfway decent offense to go with it.

Now it's completely the opposite. If we can get a decent defense again, we can compete for the Big 12 title and a playoff spot.
