So ends the dream unless a trade happens

Hope he is not hurt
Bring on Spring TrainingWe are still 56 pages behind last offseason's thread as of this date last year. We have a steep hill to climb guys.
I assume this is pitchers and catchers
Yes, pitchers and catchers.I assume this is pitchers and catchers
Will be interesting to see if Garver is there and at what pace
You would think he's already there considering the WBC players are allowed to show up early and they're all pitchers...I assume this is pitchers and catchers

I was hopeful that that would change when JD left, but I guess not.Clearly the Rangers are never gonna spend on the BP. It’s just go with what you got and roll the dice on some young arms and see where it gets ya. Hope they don’t crap out this year.
I am giving the Rangers a grade of "B" for this offseason.I have started thinking about what kind of overall grade to give the Rangers on their offseason. It is probably a little early to make a final decision since there are still 3 weeks left.
There are a lot of things to consider
Trades made
Trades not made
Manager hire
Pitching coach hire
Free agent signings
Free agents not signed
Minor league coaching changes
Rule 5 decisions
So far the only negatives I see are the following.
Losing Englert
Not signing relief upgrades
Slight overspending on pitching
I think those three include one huge mistake, one big mistake and one small mistake. The small mistake may even be considered insignificant, but it could hamstring us some financially, at least temporarily.
The positives are many. They include the following
Hiring Bochy
Hiring Maddux
DeGrom signing
Perez signing
Odorizzi trade
Not trading away prospects
Not signing unneeded free agent hitters
Hiring new upper level pitching coaches
Signing another short term starting pitcher(Heaney or Eovaldi)
I am leaning toward a solid "B" at this point, but that could change slightly. Had we not lost Englert, i would be considering almost an entire grade higher.
I was hopeful that that would change when JD left, but I guess not.
