He is still perceived very highly by those who evaluate our system.

Not trying to be a smarty pants but evaluations mean very little to me. I am not saying Leiter couldn't end up being good but he is going to have to get command of his pitches and if that is a problem now it will be an even bigger problem at the big league level.

I read today that the pirates are asking for the Rangers to 3 pitching prospects. Don’t know how true this might or might not be. If that is case, I would tell no deal.

That's true on any player so agree 100%. It's always a gamble. You could be trading a stud or keeping a dud. I just as soon keep stockpiling pitchers because it is so difficult having one turn out to be a quality MLB pitcher.

I wouldn’t do that trade. I don’t care what type of year he has. That too much to give up. Let the pirates keep him.

I’m ok with starting Thompson in LF. He’s a great athlete. We don’t know where the team will be at in July. A trade for an outfielder can be made then if necessary. Remember what the Braves did with their ‘July Outfield’. Reynolds isn’t going to make the difference whether this team makes the playoffs or not and trading away top pitching prospects for him cannot be justified.
