I will say, I didn’t say allow Adolis to be claimed, or not to resign him, Or DFA him or trade for a bucket of balls.

I was asking if there could be a trade worked out that netted us a similar type player. Adolis is a 3.5 WAR player with a cannon and good power.
He could put up similar #s, worse numbers or better numbers. If a team like the Marlins for example wanted a cheap controllable OF and thought adolis had better days ahead and they traded us a very good controllable SP one might say yes? We may have to kick in a couple of others we have depth at and take one more from them that they have depth at.

I personally would entertain the idea if it meant we got back a good return, because imo Adolis will take a step back.

Could they work out a trade? Sure, but that goes for any player.

It's a virtual certainty that they won't trade Garcia this offseason, though.

Adolis strikes out just as much as Gallo. Is older than Gallo. Doesn’t draw any where close to as many walks as Gallo either.
Gallo also has a better track record.

Yet I feel the same people saying they won’t miss Gallo are the same ones so infatuated with Adolis lol

For me, it's that I don't want to pay Gallo $25m a year. And I don't want to pay Garcia that either.

You make some good points. I will point out that Adolis' track record before this season can be thrown out in my opinion, because he made such a major adjustment about a year ago. That adjustment produced such different results that his previous track record, prior to the adjustments, are not that important any longer.

He has remade himself and is really very new in his new mechanics at the plate. There is definitely room for growth for him.

That adjustment produced such different results that his previous track record, prior to the adjustments, are not that important any longer.

Lest we forget the pursuit of the LHB thus Prince were a factor. Perhaps a little sour grapes re his serving of a suspension. Ultimately decisions made although LHB need was real and underperformance of Mitch all factored in. If we had extended him prior to some reasonable amount before he signed for a pittance, history would have been different

The dirrerence is: Gallo had ampel time to improve and continued down the K trail and became a Mendoza type. Garcia had a very promising rookie season. He may fall on his face but he should be given the time to prove he won't. I don't see anyone infatuated with Adolis. Some just want to see if he will be even better next year and it wil not take much to not exceed 213 K's.

The Rangers offered him a QO, which he turned down thinking he would make more money. He ended up signing with BAL on a 1-year deal for less than the QO. Had he accepted the Rangers offer and then produced like he did in BAL, it's very likely the Rangers re-sign him to a multi-year deal.

Yes I get that but the wanting of a LHB was a factor in them likely lowballing him an offer so they could get draft compensation

Now of course Cruz miscalculated the market.

Also the Choo signing thinking we needed a lead off guy took us out of the market

Point was there were a lot of factors why we did not keep Cruz. In retrospect maybe we should have flipped Profar and Gallo and got a lead off guy if we were trying to extend our window

I think the stink of PEDS, his being limited to DH and the presumed decline in offensive were the biggest factors.

Cruz' WAR in his final 3 seasons in TEX combined was 4.3. His WAR in his BAL season was 4.5.

The Rangers didn't "lowball" him, they offered him a QO which was 100% the correct decision.

Jack Leiter took advantage of a fall break at Vanderbilt to join the Rangersbin Surprise. Jeff Wilson reports the following.

"Leiter headed to Surprise, Ariz., for a long weekend cram session at the fall instructional league, where the plan is for him to continue to get a feel for the organization that selected him in July with the second overall pick."

"He’s also going to throw a bullpen in the Rangers’ performance center. Apparently, Leiter has been performing well at Vandy."

“The only red flag is he might be throwing too hard in his bullpens right now,” said Ross Fenstermaker, who oversees Rangers player development."

"Fenstermaker said that Leiter has touched 98 mph while throwing in Nashville, where Rangers personnel has visited to watch him throw on a program tailored to add things the Rangers want to see with what made Leiter successful in college."

There is a chance that Owen White may go directly to AA next year and not to High A according to Jeff Wilson's report.

"“You could make the case that if he continues to perform like this in the Fall League, High A might be a little too low for him,” Fenstermaker said. “My guess is we start him at High A, but the Fall League, that level of talent is commiserate with the upper end of High A if not Double A.”'

Well yeah, I think there's no question BAL was incredibly lucky.

Not signing Abreu was a huge misstep by the FO. That dude would have raked here. Felt that way before he ever had a MLB at bat.

Under this hypothetical scenario - where the Rangers sign Correa and Syndegaard and trade for Gray - do you consider that to be a successful offseason by the front office? or would there need to be additional moves made to call it that?
