In related news, I got a 3 day ban from the MLB subreddit today. I mentioned how I think it's weird that Blue Jays fans think the Bautista HR is the greatest moment in their franchise history, then called some idiot a scrub when he tried to sound smart. Whoops.

That whole scene in The Jaya was very tainted with the fan interference, objects thrown and non enforcement

Real bad look for city and baseball

think that because even if they reach an agreement within 5 days the schedule has already been affected because it would take at least 2+ weeks to get the agreement to all 1200 members of the MLBPA for them to vote on it. for any questions to ask and answered and then for all 32 owners to vote and ratify. it would seem the schedule has already been affected by a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks

And add in naming rights and probably a few other odds and ends. Of course some teams commit $200 million in salary before the season starts and then there are other expenses as well.

To me, it doesn't matter how much they make or even if they lose money. They should make the best deal they can even if they are guaranteed $300 million in revenue. Conversely, the players should try to get as much as they can even if teams were to lose money. They can negotiate as long as they feel the need to do so. I do wish they could have started negotiating much earlier though, but then maybe there are behind the scenes things that make it play out the way it does.

I will be here when they finish haggling over the deal.

Definitely that. But it's not like the Rangers and Jays have some long rivalry with each other. And Bautista's HR wasn't a walk-off, and it was just the ALDS.

It's like those idiots have forgotten all about Joe Carter. Which seems dumb to me.

If Otto and Hauver do very much at all in the big leagues, then the Joey Gallo trade has a chance to be even better than the Teixeira trade, when judged in hindsight.

I actually have high hopes for both Duran and Smith.

Oh I remember seeing that HR. A classic. Seems like Mitch gave it up right?

after further review i think we could easily lose the first month or 2 of the regular season. once the CBA is approved there would have to be time allotted to complete the normal off-season (there are a number of free agents including about half of those listed as being part of the top 30 when free agency opened). once the signing period re-opens, teams will want time to sign the right players and those players will want time to negotiate the right contract with the right team. then they'll want a full ST to make sure the players get into season shape.

i think we'll be lucky if we get a 100 to 110 game season

The delay in ST is all my fault and I am sorry. Two years ago we took a road trip to California to see my daughter and our grandkids(and our son-in-law) during my wife's spring break. We were going to stop by and catch a ST game on our way back. The day we left to come back was when they shut everything down. This year we are also going to be driving to California for another visit during spring break in March. I had thought we could see a ST game on the way home. I am 2 for 2 it looks like.
