I see where the Marlins signed 27 and 17 of them were pitchers. I think the Rangers signed 1 pitcher.
Yes the numbers are static. Yes a few more pitches is not a bad thing

I don’t think owners or players want to delay the season. It benefits neither
But I would not doubt owners might want to shorten ST and shorten time for free agents to sign thus lowering the bidding time. So thus the lack of desperation to get anything resolved. Just parties all wanting a bigger piece of the pie.

All this is a bad look for baseball to me.

they aren't interested in resolving anything? both sides believe that the other side will fold. this could and probably will take months

Did like the As back then before the Rangers move. Vida Blue was a phenom

My pre-Rangers teams were the Twins and the Reds. That was simply based on the 3D baseball cards my brother and I got out of Kelloggs cereal.

My pre Ranger team was the Yankees. I was 10 yrs old and we lived in the country. Radio was not real good and we only got one station and it carried NY. Grew up with some great ones.

My Mom was a Yankees fan in the early 50s.
We lived in Houston in the 60s and I became an Astros fan but even more just a baseball fan. Got to watch WS when they played during the day, still remember Gibson dominating and Baltimore were really good with the Robinson’s and Blair.
Back then most players were on teams for life
Great Astros radio announcers who were very entertaining Gene Elston and Lowell Pass.
I like the As uniforms and all those moustaches.
Remember watching Nolan play for the Mets

Cowboys are a shit show. Jerry’s joke of a billion dollar stadium hurt the team yesterday when one of our receivers lost a 3rd down pass in the sunlight and a punter hit the scoreboard.

Jerry hurt the team with team meant in the loosest sense.
No accountability.
That starts with the GM not accountable to the owner
The HC not accountable for clock mgt, preparing a team, OC not accountable for playing an injured back over a currently superior back up. Players not accountable to each other.
No consequences for sloppy play. No one really taking responsibility strongly. But there is blame shifting
Been going on for the last 20 years. Best NFL brand not getting it done despite that advantage

Ben Verlander started a conversation today when he mentioned that Joey Gallo was his pick for a player that didn't have a good 2021 but would have a good 2022.

Of course there were many people who jumped on him and defended Gallo's 2021 as being a good year.

I really don't understand why people work so hard to defend Gallo.

For the life of honest men I don't either.

Because of his OPS over 800 almost 40 HRs and high on base percentage, overall high athletic ability and superior defense. It is thought he has not gotten close to his ceiling as of yet.
To me the mental blocks are what need to be solved

I think what can happen to his career at this point is wide open. He could play like he did in NY for a couple of more years and retire. Or, he could revert to playing like he did here in 2021 when he played to a level that put him in the All Star game. Who knows at this point.

I think some team will offer the Yankees about a fourth of what the Yankees gave up for Gallo, and trade for him to see if they can buy low without much risk.
